Is every picture worth a story?

I've read that including a story in your sales copy increases the chance of getting conversions. But, it seems to me that not all sales copy lends itself to a story, or should I be aiming to include a story in the sales copy I write regardless?

Also, when using a story, I've also read that the story should start "in the middle", or at the most exciting part. What are your thoughts on that and also the idea (and importance) of incorporating a story in general?

Cheers,
Ray

  • It was just as the parachute failed to open for the second time...

When a fellow copywriter flew past me and said "Steve, only ever use a story if it strengthens the copy making it more powerful and adds a big emotional impact. Don't ever do it for just the sake of it"

("Ohh", he added, "pull the red cord", which I did and with an almighty swoosh the parachute shot into the air like a giant umbrella)
