Books/Courses on Writing Powerpoint Presentations?

COPY WRITING

Hi everyone,

Could anyone with experience writing sales PPT presentations point me in the direction of a good course/book on the matter?

I know the basics, but a B2B IT client wants me to put quite a few together so I want things to be as slick as possible.

I enjoyed

Presentation Zen by Garr Reynolds and found it very helpful when I created slides for a presentation I gave a couple years back.

He builds on principles taught by Nancy Duarte, who contributed a small section in Reynolds's book.

It's not writing PP presentations, but Bruce Wedding shared a way to create the slides crazy fast in this thread. First time I used Bruce's method, it saved me about 4 hours of work. I made it a point of buying him a beer and thanking him personally when I saw him last year at the Warrior Event in Raleigh.

A beer and a handshake for 4 hours of work saved.

Sounds like Bruce got the worst end of that deal!

I know you were kidding, Alex... but I'll tell you what, I tend to value the beer and the handshake a lot more than money.

We're a weird bunch and any time I can share meatspace with other writers it's worth SO much more... just for the stories.

Glencoe Books are really large and loaded with everything you need to know about all of the Microsoft Office products. They are only up to Office 2007 but it doesn't matter, I still use them to teach students with and you can get these books used from Amazon for $1.00. ( Brand new they sell for $130)
