A Note To Anyone Who's Using The Term "Killer Copy"...

A lot of people are using this term, and in my opinion, I'm starting to feel like it's getting over played, though it may just be me though. What do you guys think?

I would go so far as to dissuade anyone in copywriting or business from using the term "Killer" in their marketing.

I'm sure there's a context that it'd fit into, but beside "How To Harvest The Hidden Brain Power of Killer Whales", I'm drawing a big fat blank.

Guess me and Garf better close up shop then...

I mean, who cares about six-figures worth of product sales that prove otherwise when Sajun's got an opinion to share?

Use the words your prospects use to describe their problems and the solutions they want if you want to make money.

Use the words you think make you look smart and hip if you want to impress people on forums.

Didn't know you were using that in your headline Brian.

Perhaps I've underestimated the value of said term. Sorry.

      Nope.

There will ALWAYS be clients who know the difference.

The rest are amateurs who will always be stuck wondering why the hell THAT guy succeeds and they can't find the magic button.

Eh, I don't know about all that.

Besides, we're all assuming the fiverr guy can't write copy. Who knows, maybe he's pretty good... Maybe he just requires you provide him with all the background info up front (so no research is required), and he turns it into great copy...

One of you "seven figure" copywriters here (for whom $5 is absolutely nothing) should hire this guy and confirm for everyone that he's a terrible copywriter. (I personally couldn't find his samples on fiverr.)

Just let him know you might post his copy on a forum for study purposes, and show us that he's horrible.

He's probably not substantially worse than all the $500 and $5000 copywriters floating around the web.

You're just a regular ray of funshine, aren't you?

He can have all the $5 gigs in the world, I ain't gonna stop him. Ain't even gonna critique him 'cause it's pointless.

You can't get me to even blink in your direction for that little. I know what my skill set is worth.

            I'd blink in anyone's direction for $5.

I don't want to critique the guy either, but I'd like to see what $5 copy is like. (Not enough to pay for it though...)

I wouldn't be surprised if he's reasonably talented but selling himself sort. Says he's a screenwriter to boot.

Alright who's gunna bite the bullet here and shell out the $5 to see what Mr. Fiverr can produce for us? LOL

I'm sure he offers a lot more than $5 worth of value... even a terrible copywriter should be charging at least 3x that amount.

Edit: Btw, to anyone who's actually using "Killer Copy" I was just messing around, Chris is right, we're all competing against this guy, he's probably just not much competition.

LOL I know a LOT of self-proclaimed screenwriters as that was once my industry. Lots of big dreams, but the big talent was a lot more rare.

I've written screenplays, I could call myself a screenwriter

Maybe that will get me some $5 gigs on Fiverr, I've never had one of those...

Well, I'm pretty much the only copywriter on the forum who'll readily admit I'm far from rich. In other words, I don't have 5 bucks to burn like that.

But as I understand it, every other copywriter here is making 6 or 7 figures per year.

    Throw us a bone guys!

No, I wouldn't say for sure that's the case. There are people here who are at all different levels of both skill and income.

haha. Cam with the wry sense o' humor.

No, I wasn't convinced. In fact, I'd guess most of the writers here make somewhere in the 5 figures.

Pretty low bar -- $10,000. I think I made 5 figures on my first part-time job at McD's.

Fiverr guys can make 5 figures in fact. The holy grail for me is six.

2 things. First of all fiverr offers services STARTING at $5. My average sale while I worked the fiverr world was around $100. And you can book those all day long. Second there is no better way to learn than with someone who is paying you and TESTING your work. Laugh it up all you want. Fiverr taught me more in 3 weeks than all the books I bought with the money it earned. Now I've moved on but hell..... it was a fine start AND I know a few guys billing $2000 sales letters through fiverr. Personally it's not my future but good luck to them. James.

It's ok you know. You learn the spiel you get to quote and figure out pricing. You talk to some pretty succesful peeps who are fishing for talent. You can always tell by the questions they throw. It's a decent sandbox to refine your craft and move on. Nothing more or less. James
