What Do You Guys Think Of Mike Chang (Six Pack Dude On Youtube)?
For some weird reason, I can't actually get linkable copies of videos on Youtube... They seem to only exist as ads not standalone videos.
That's a shame because I really wanted to share/discuss two videos of his:
1. The "Eating Like A Pig Ad."
This video opens showing Mike sitting down in front of a table stuffing his face full of food.
He is visibly ripped and most of it his just him talking about how he eats like a pig... And putting his money where his mouth is, downing fried chicken, ice cream, other tasty items...
2. The Silent Killer Ad.
In this ad the narrator just keeps building and building suspense talking about this "silent killer" that's killing men all over the country... It turns out he's just talking about belly fat but the way he builds it up is really interesting.
I'm bringing this guy up as an example because he's pretty much the ONLY person whose youtube ads have ever made me stop and watch the whole thing.
This is all the more amazing considering I don't even follow his niche... And I usually just stop watching after 30 seconds or with most youtube ads no matter how interested in them I am.
I wish I could find one of the videos I'm talking about but I can't find one.
I think his video ads really illustrate the importance of two things:
1. Having A Unique Hook
Something I've noticed with all Mike's ads is that they stand out from pretty much everything else on Youtube immediately.
Take that "eating like a pig" ad for instance. Right from the beginning you just see this ripped guy with a plate of junk food in front of him pigging out. It's so completely different from most bodybuilding ads, which always seem to focus on the "no pain no gain" side of the equation... It grabs your attention immediately just by the novelty of it.
2. Open Loops And Suspense
Why did I actually sit down to watch all of Mike's "silent killer" ad when I usually don't bother with Youtube ads?
Because, he instantly frames it in such a way as to leave you wanting more. He grabs any male viewer instantly by saying there's a "silent killer" that's affecting men... And he just keeps building the list of scary consequences of this "silent killer" without telling you what it is. It gets you invested in the video and wanting to finally find out what that "silent killer" is! By the time he finally gives it away, you don't even notice that he's talking about the most mundane thing ever (essentially, obesity), you're just happy to finally get the payoff.
Anyway, just sharing something that caught my attention recently. Also if anybody knows where to find his videos I'd be grateful if you shared them!
