I've seen this one, but it's so worth the re-watch. Great reminder to us all

      This is awesome.

The best advice is to have a clear definition of what work you're completing for your client.

SO many gems in here about covering yourself legally... and as freelancers we MUST do this.

      Thanks Rick.

Some really good common sense tips and advice here. So important to have a contract in place...when I first started out I learnt this the hard way.

I stupidly accepted some work that needed to be done urgently. In my eagerness to win the client and do the work I did the gig before signing an agreement....turned out client only paid half the 'agreed' fee. I was lucky!

Painful lesson but one I won't forget!

Since then I have walked away from potential 'red flag' clients. The time and energy spent on a 'bad client' just isn't worth it.

One line I hear is "Well if this works out well we have a ton of work for you in the future."

Sorry Charlie.....discounts are what Target do. I want my fee. And it has to be green... not sugar coated.

One of the easiest transformations I ever undertook as a copywriter was reading that quote every day.

Yea. That's usually a bad sign imo. Anyways, watched the whole thing. I really liked it. I especially liked the tidbit about the IP transfer upon full-payment, that's gold.

I once had the 'we ended up not using it so we won't pay this time' line. Can you imagine if all businesses worked like that...no, me neither.
