I wonder if the vagueness of the reward helps their conversions or not. My money would be on "no". I don't want to do that not knowing what I'll get. Btw, these should really be in one thread.

I was going to say the same thing about the reward. Give me a hint.

Will it be $10 off a case of Newcastle or a coupon code for a 10% off any Joe's Liquor Store purchase if you hold your breath underwater for at least three minutes? I've seen the hoops that some retailers make you jump through just for a savings of forty five cents. People still do it.

Yeah, more specific on what you'll reward me with if I spend time doing something that could profit your company in the end.

This campaign saw drastic increases in sales and media engagement within 6 months of launch (according to the agency's website).

I like their beermat slogans. Especially 'You're probably reading this because your friend went to the toilet'. Damn right! lol.

If they used the word 'drastic', that's your clue right there. It sounds like it came from an agency who favors 'bullshit baffles brains' copywriting instead of death by results.

Not saying that for sure..didn't look them up - but you'll come across that if you venture further in a copy career.

According to them? That's what we copywriters call "social proof".

Not only that but there was a huge increase in ale sales across the board. Bombadier, Hobgoblin. They all saw increases even in supermarket sales not just pump sales.

They could of just piggybacked that. Be interesting to see THAT campaign say..... in the 90's when fizzy lager was the norm and ale was frowned upon.

Now IF they re-invent something like prawn cocktail which is as 70's as food goes. Then I'd be impressed.

  • Chances are it's not going to be a huge reward (I'm not expecting a cadillac).

But the intrigue is hopefully enough to get the clicks.

And keep the good people interested in knocking back a bottle or two

It's been yonks since I had one - but it is good stuff.

Providing you like a strong brew.

I think it is a great campaign, their honesty makes me like them. Although I agree about the reward, I also think it is intriguing. If you had a load of mates down the pub (I'm British) then you might be tempted to take a selfie of you all getting smashed on pints on newkie...could even go viral!

Although I guess that's not drinking responsibly is it....might do more harm to their reputation

John I've seen some ODD shifting going on lately. Vaynermedia (Gary Vaynerchuck) has been banging on about their new strategy. How they pull in 50 mill a year in revenue and play the long term game instead of short lived spikes. Thing is they post some stats on their website. And to be honest I almost giggled. An entire DOVE campaign getting something like a few hundred new likes on FB? And similar stories. I had a look at a few websites and then you see whats happening. They are paying pennies to well seasoned marketers to come in and sleep under a desk. They work them to the bone for the honour of working with Gary. And by work I mean waking up at 3am from under your desk to post on Twitter.

Is this some kind of hipster marketing where results come second to fancy tactics?

It baffles me. I admire Gary for what he did with Wine Library but .....

    Dunno.
