Any good books or websites on Landing Page Copy Writing

Hey guys, I'm looking for some books or websites that can teach me how to write convincing sales copies for my landing pages. I know there's a lot of psychology that goes into it, and I already read Ca$hvertising. Any recommendations would be great - a resource that breaks it all down from headline to picture placement to main content etc etc.

Thanks

There are definitely books and courses you can get but copywriting is one of those things you develop over many years. If you are just getting started out then I would pay the money to have a professional do it for you now. Then as you go on and see more and more sales pages and squeeze pages you will start to develop your skills. But it's definitely something that takes a lot of time and practice to perfect and thus why good copywriters can command such high fees.

One problem with the book approach, is it constantly changes. What you write yourself today, may be obsolete as soon as tomorrow. Just keep visiting pages and glean from the best.

I don't agree with that. Most good copywriting is based on human psychology, something that does not change. What works in copywriting today are the same things that worked 20 years ago and will be the same things that work 20 years from now.

What worked for me 15 years ago was to run an ad in a traffic exchange and get 100 prospects in a day with 30% of them converting to paid customers. Basic Human Psychology may not change, but the same triggers may not work today?

          Just my opinion.

The same principles in copywriting are the same today as they were years ago.

It's all about seducing, compelling and persuading your prospect to buy your product.

Through the headline subhead and answering all the objections that may come up in the body copy. Risk reversal, guarantee and all the way down to the PS.

Definitely Dan Kennedy's Ultimate Sales Letter - you'll be learning from a very highly paid expert and the principles of mail order are very similar to the web.

Scientific Advertising was written a long time ago and a lot still applies. It's in the public domain so is either free or very cheap.

Robert Cialdini's book Influence isn't directly about writing copy but will help you know which buttons to press in your prospects minds.

There's a whole sub-forum here on copywriting that is brimming with help and ideas.

But - most importantly - start. Even if you buy help in as well.

Will your first sales letter be perfect? No.

Does it have to be a sales letter? No. It could be a video or an audio or what used to be known as a self liquidating offer where you sell people a book/CD/whatever for "just" post and packing. The late Gary Halbert did that with a paperback book that was by his own admission a roughly 100 page sales letter.

Above all, let your personality come through and be honest - quite a few of the WSO sales letters I've done just explain what you'll get and nearly give away the whole product. I'm not alone in doing that and Ken McCarthy used to advise giving away your best secrets in your sales letters as people will assume they'll get even more value in the full product.

Forgot to say, read your copy out loud.

That way you'll spot where the glitches are.

YouTube also has some good tutorials on creating effective landing pages. It is definitely worth a look. Udemy also has some inexpensive course on the subject, however, never buy a udemy course without a discount coupon! My two sense!

    I agree, copy is important

What about including other elements, like video sales letters? That's the great thing about websites - flexibility to tell a more robust (and sticky) story that sells.
