I'm selling an item that's ranked in the 1000's for Kitchen & Dining..There is only one other FBA seller, and in my opinion they are costing me $$.. Here's why.

The other seller has 600+ inventory and is selling the item @ $10.75, when it could easily sell for $14+..

Right now I'm matching his price to share the Buy Box rotation, but wish I could e-mail him to tell him to raise his price lol.

Are there any tactics to scare a seller away from an ASIN you can recommend? I've thought about reducing my price down to my cost on purpose to make the other seller think I'm getting a better deal, and maybe he won't replenish?

I recently heard of a seller that was using a repricer with no min price entered. Another FBA seller realized this and drove the price down to his actual cost, then bought all the other sellers inventory lol. That would suck.

Any advice on this type of thing would great.

    My advice to you is don't start a price war. No one wins in a price war on Amazon. This is what I tell my students. Find another way to compete. Get more reviews, use social media etc.

      I'm just curious what you teach your students about repricing software? There is a common misconception that repricer create price wars, or start the dreaded 'race to the bottom', when in reality it's the opposite.

        Hi yes I agree. Its opposite. I dont know how all repricers work but I use LogicSale and you have to enter a min and max amount for the system to run. but I have a competitor who sells below my min on some items and the software never goes below my min price even when he is less so a race to the bottom couldnt happen actually

    Maybe I'm just dense, but if you have your own FBA private label product, how can someone else be selling it for less than you? Don't you have exclusive rights to that product?

      I re-read his initial post and he does not say that it is a private label product. That explains how another FBA seller can be selling it.

      Definately do not contact the other seller as I would expect that violates Amazon's TOS and will cause you big trouble. I would keep your price right around the other price, a bit below or above and you will get your fair share of sales.

    The other seller is probably happy with his profit margin and wants to keep the price low to keep out competitors.

      And NEVER NEVER NEVER contact another seller about pricing. It's looked at as price fixing and you will get booted from Amazon. To protect himself/herself the other seller has to notify Amazon.

      Instead, why don't you try pricing a little higher, but stay in the buy box. You know, those reprices go up just as easily as they go down. Keep working it up a few pennies at time.

      Hi ZanyZebra,

      You can find out how much inventory that somebody has by going to the product they are selling and hit the buy button that's linked to their account. Then when you go to Amazon's Cart, you hit edit and change it so you are buying 999 items. Amazon will usually tell you how many they have in stock.
