Hi,

I am in the process of setting up an eccomerce wordpress site and want to use paypal as the only checkout service.

The site is selling physical products for about $30 each and I will be selling about 50-100 of them per month.

I live in Canada and will be selling primarily to Americans who will be paying in USD currency.

I am wondering whether I need to set up a business account for this or if I can use a premier account for this?

It looks like paypal allows only a premeir or business account but not both.

Currently I have a premier account and would like to keep it as I do seo consulting and use that account to accept money under my name.

What are my options here? I find it ridiculous to believe you either cannot use a premier account for everything or you cannot own a business account and a premier; for incase you ran to seperate businesses which I do (a service and a product store)

    1. Call paypal and tell them you need additional business account, as you want to keep your premier account as well.
    2. The support will tell you what to do.
    3. Congratulations, you now have 2 accounts, and Paypal doesn't mind!

Actually there aren't any much differences between business and premier.
Just that business account allow company name, and send mass payment.

I suggest remain with your current premier account.

  • Well, a Business account ALSO allows for people to use their credit cards to pay you. This is a huge benefit. Get a business account.

However, this isn't to be confused for a PayPal PRO account. This allows people to use credit cards and NOT be re-directed to their site.

Additionally, one thing to consider: If you're selling using international payments, your fees WILL be higher on a percentage basis - not a per-transaction basis.
