Western Union is a scam magnet, so I avoid it. T/T is a huge hassle and seems like it opens you up to risk. I get very suspicious when a manufacturer can't use PayPal. Why can't they?

Retail sellers such as those on Aliexpress often use PayPal, but genuine manufacturers rarely do.

T/T can be used safely if you have done due diligence on the supplier and know that they are genuine. The payment must go to the bank account of the company.

If you are asked to pay to an individual, that will usually be OK provided you have been able to confirm by your own investigations that the person named is registered as the owner of the business.

If you pay with Western Union it's extremely likely that you will lose your money.

Try asking the supplier if they will accept escrow via escrow.com.

Anton is right aboout the risk of losing your money if you pay via WU.

Unfortunately few Chinese suppliers are familiar with Escrow.com, but it is certainly worth trying if the order value is high enough. On orders of $1,000 or more the fee seems to me to be very worth paying to avoid the risk.

Here is what escrow.com protection will cost you, including a a flat rate service fee of $25.
      $200 25.0%
      $500 10.0%
      $1,000 5.7%
      $2,000 4.5%
      $10,000 2.0%

You should make it clear right from the start that you are willing to pay the escrow.com fee.

Please explain why WU is safer than other payment methods.
