Hey Warriors,

I'm interested in starting an eCommerce business but I'm not sure where to start. I'm completely out of ideas and honestly need some guidance on what to do.

I also want to use square space as my hosting/builder. What are your guys opinion on them?

I appreciate all your help.

Thanks,
David

Any products or service you intend to market online ?

Is it an general consumer or high end premium products/services ?

After you identify your primary priority then it is secondary priority like which trading platform, payment mode, website hosting, target traffic shopper etc to choose

Hope it helps n all the best for your upcoming ecommerce venture

My suggestion is that you focus on a niche rather than sell all the generic items. Focusing on a niche will provide you with better traffic generation/promotion strategy and help you specialise in the category. Additionally, you may also start a niche blog and promote your products through good content and reviews on it.
Secondly, you may opt for open source software to make your store cost-effective in the beginning.

Choose a niche. Seriously, people always make the mistake of trying to be too big, too soon and you actually want to dominate a small market. For example, choose a product (if you're selling a physical product) that comes in few sizes, colors etc i.e minimize your variables so your investment is minimal.

I would also think about testing the demand before you buy stock or at least buy small amounts - the thing that is most likely to kill your stock based business is cash flow so keep an eye on it.

In regards to Squarespace as an ecommerce platform; I'd suggest you go with Shopify, BigCommerce or another dedicated ecommerce solution. They'll give you everything you need to get started so you can focus on running your business. After you scale, you can think about more intricate/customized platforms like a CMS or perhaps Magento.

Your first step is to pick a niche, a market where you felt comfortable with.
Then you should consider about a particular category or the main category like baby market or baby food market.
