Checkout for Magento: which one converts most effectively?

Hey guys,

Am wondering what Magento checkout forms might convert better: one-step/one-page vs multiple steps. Please provide some data.

Also, I think there're more than 100+ checkout extensions at Magento Connect. Which one would you recommend & why?

    Use Checkout for Magento - One Step Checkout - Extension - Simple and fast checkout or don't bother, it's the market leader. Basically it's 50/50 based on the analysis, for some it increases, others it makes it worse and some it's neutral. You'll just have to test for your business scenario.

    The extension creates a great architecture for one page checkout and lets register on the last step of checkout by simply providing a password.

    Also, I love the feature that merges shipping address and shipping method into a single step, which goes before billing info. That saves time for my customers and reduced my store cart abandonment rate.

    I will not be convinced (until I see data) that having everything crammed onto 1 page converts better than multiple (shorter) pages in checkout.

    When a customer sees a page with 30-40 fields to fill out it may appear too intimidating.

    With one page checkout my client raised their sales by 20%. No kidding, although I agree that for some sites with overly excess amount of fields in checkout it won't be the best option. They should make them as concise as possible first.
    The plugin we used for is one page checkout by webtex.

    Well, Magento is one of the best eCommerce platforms, I have ever seen. The One step-check out-extension is the best extension for marketing purpose. It is really fruitful for customer perspective.
