How To Find An eCommerce Apprenticeship/Assistant Job?

Hello Warriors,

I have been looking for a job as an eCommerce Clerk or an apprentice for a professional operation packing orders, responding to customer inquiries and the other rote tasks associated with selling physical products online, but I am having trouble locating one. I am not making this thread to beg for a job or a freebie, but rather for advice on how I can find someone with a professional eCommerce operation that I can gain employment with and perhaps more importantly, to learn from.

I currently operate an FBA account with Amazon as my bread and butter, with eBay and Etsy (vintage clothing) on the side. I am in my mid 20s trying to move out of my mother's house but I find that I cannot buy all the merchandise I need to make enough money for my own place being that I have numerous monthly expenses. It is also worth noting that I had to put my degree on hold (I am 12 credits away from my Bachelors) because of a lack of funds to pay off my tuition. I eventually want to go back but am focused on getting my Amazon business off the ground first.

I am specifically seeking an eCommerce position so that I can 1) earn the requisite money to put into merchandise and 2) learn more about how to run a large-scale operation. I live in a large city on the West Coast so the cost of living is high, but as an advantage there are several low-cost inventory sources nearby.

I am starting to think that the fact that I have my own eCommerce avenues is offputting to the prospective employers that I have interviewed with. Perhaps they think that I will leave once I get enough money, or that I will leave them to get my degree. In actuality, neither of those are very close to fruition being that I will need at least a couple thousand to make a big enough merchandise purchase to pay rent on an apartment and move up in my life. My target profit margin is 50% so I estimate I will have to put up at least $6,000 in merchandise monthly to make $3,000 in profit, which is just enough to live off of in my city with proper budgeting. I am current only pulling in $250-$500 monthly off of Amazon which is obviously not enough.

I realize that staying home and saving long term is the best option in terms of frugality, but I cannot stay here for another year. I love my mother but she suffers from some emotional problems and is very hard to deal with on a day-to-day basis. I got used to living without parents in college and being back at home is sometimes very depressing. But I will not quit.

Sorry for the ramble, but to put things simply I am looking for advice on how to find an eCommerce apprenticeship/clerk job in my area, a large city on the West Coast of the US. If any part of this post was unclear let me know and I will clarify what I meant.

I'm new myself, but if you're looking for a job try Craigslist. There are always a few Ecommerce ads, depending on where you live. Check your local Workforce Development Office for more help. WIA Grants will even pay for training, if needed.

Check Roomster or Craigslist for a roommate, as well. You don't have to be rich to move away from the parental home. Try Craigslist under the Housing/ Rooms Shared section.

You should be able to qualify for financial aid if your income is low, so fill out your FAFSA and return to school. Living off campus will be much cheaper.

    Edit:

I forgot to add --research Drop Shipping. If you don't have enough capital to physically stock products, drop shipping is the way to go.
