I can print the barcode to items its not problem but I have problem with taxes.

If i want to buy 1000 item. should i create a company ? Or can i just use my name?

And should I do something else for that ? any other step or tax ?

    Hi there,

I'm not from the US either and perhaps I can help you clarify some doubt.

I'm assuming you didn't set up your Amazon.com seller account yet, right? When you do you will perform a "tax interview": just follow the instructions, read carefully and choose the right options. Seems complicated but it's a pretty straight-forward process.

When just starting out you do not need to set up a company: signing up as an individual is the easiest way to get things rolling. You'll have plenty of time and opportunities to do that once your sales become consistent and big enough as to justify any legal entity-creation.
This is the advise I followed though, being myself too at the early stage of this venture.

Your products, given the fact they're not restricted and not dependent on approval by any federal agencies (FDA and others) need to be properly prep and labeled in order to be delivered to any FBA warehouse; sending them straight from China to Amazon makes this a little complicated, unless your supplier is willing to help you with that. Using a third party-prep service may come handy in this case. WF senior member ImportExport claims to know a company of this type who could also make Customs Clearance on your behalf; I suggest you to have a good read of ImportExport (many) posts: he also strongly advises AGAINST Alibaba sourcing, due to the high risks of scams and/or dealing with middlemen instead of manufacturers.

There are other things to be covered, being the most important (imo) taking action.

    I hope this helps

    Regards

In the order that you raise issues:

    1. You need to take advice from a tax accountant in the country in which you reside. Each country's tax laws are different.

As for tax in the USA, all the basic guidance you need is on the inside of amazon when you set up your account.

    2. No you do not need to set up a company. However it is prudent to do so in order to help protect against liability.

Some people start up without a company around them but then decide to create one as their customers, sales and profits increase.

    3. I don't recommend that you start out with 1,000 products. Treat your first venture into this as a test. Do it as small and as cheaply as possible. Ignore the Minimum Order Quantities quoted on manufacturers sites and negotiate with them.

You are following in my footsteps of a few years back (although I had the big advantage of being trained in the whole ecommerce business model).

If you get it right then it can be a fantastic business (I currently earn 6 figures a month from it).

    Good luck with your adventure.

so you can ask the manufacture to label the products, and find an agent to handle your shipment. that's the best idea.

@leonsa17, It is far better to use a freight forwarder in the destination country. You can ship direct to Amazon, but you need to understand the complexities first.

DWaters has a good understanding of the FBA system, and I suggest you take his advice about starting small while you learn the system.

There are potential risks to your business by shipping direct to Amazon. I have had experience in dealing with Chinese businesses since 1978 as an exporter and 1987 as an importer.

I know many cases in which Chinese suppliers have appointed agents in Western countries and once the sales do well they ditch the agent and set up a branch operation.

If they will do that, it means that those who discover how easy it is to sell through FBA will also be tempted to ditch their customers who are only paying wholesale or ex factory prices, and sell direct at retail

I would never ship direct from China to FBA. I would use an FBA prepping service if I wanted to use FBA. If Prime was not important, I would use a fulfillment service other than FBA. For more information on this subject, see: Big Risk In Shipping Direct From China To FBA

Thank you for great answers. These answers helped me so much.

I found a website; TaxJar. It has api for amazon. I think this website will make it easier.
I will use just 1 Barcode for my all products its fine right ? Ex. for 100 same iPhone case just 1 barcode.

And can you tell me how much can I earn with this ? Are there any risks ?

    Thank you again.

I also suggest that you start out small and learn the FBA business before you place any large orders. You do not want to be sitting on a large, slow selling inventory. You can start as an individual seller but you have to know if the categories you plan to sell in are open to individual sellers. Some categories are only available for professional account sellers. This info is easily found on Amazon's FBA site.

      Hello,

Another place you can find accurate information on sales tax for Amazon sellers is https://TrustFile.com , Avalara's premier eCommerce product.

They have guides, free tax liability reports, as well as automatic filing for Amazon sellers. It's free to make an account so a lot of people create an account to use their free liability reports & file / remit manually.

They have an Amazon API as well you can connect your account to for near instant results.

      Hope this helps.

      Cheers,

      Sergei
