Really would like to do dropshipping I have looked at all the DS companies and they charge a ridiculous monthly service fee... And their "wholesale" pricing is outrageous!!! I need profits!! So whats a guy to do? Sell dope? Jk!! But I need some thing that's gunna work!! I really would appreciate anyones input... I'm all ears!! Thanks so much!! Adam

So I'm a newbie as well (just look at my post count and you'll see) but I've done a fair amount of reading and I'll share my opinion of what i've learned.

Basically, forget drop shipping directories etc. Come up with a niche, contact the manufacturers directly and find ones that will dropship for you. You'll see some people on this forum strongly advocate for it. It's a lot more effort but apparently it's also the best way to make a profit.

I'd share some of the threads I've read but being a newbie and all I don't think I'm allowed to post links. I hope this helped and good luck.

Actually, if you don't have a niche, a Directory is a smart purchase because you can view a broad range of available product ideas and have hundreds of Supplier contacts at your finger tips immediately. It's no different than using the old school telephone book.

I definitely would avoid expensive middle-men like Doba or WWB, but a dropship directory is an easy way to source suppliers and save time.

Just my opinion, having been there and made that.

      • Have you ever considered working directly with a leather manufacturer?
I noticed your name is Collar king. Perhaps a Mil-Spec K-9 Unit dog collar business?

Just trying to help you think out of the box!!

You said: "I need profits!! So whats a guy to do?" My answer is to think outside the square and consider small scale direct importing of inventory. The profit margins compared to dropshipping will blow you away.

I have taught hundreds how to safely source at genuine ex-factory prices, and many have started with very small funds. Here is a copy of a post on the forum by one of them: "He writes about how and why to contact the manufacturers directly, no dropshipping. I have contacted some manufacturers already (from links he supplies) and I am just shocked at the low prices they offer for products I am researching. Forget Alibaba, Global Resource, whatever."

You say: "Contact manufactures directly, negotiate the price." Local manufacturers usually, but not always, have distribution networks in place. As a general rule, margins will be quite low.

For margins that will make your eyes pop, try buying direct from overseas manufacturers. On an investment of less than $300 one of my book users recently reported getting a margin of 300%. Others have posted on the forum about even higher margins. You would be very unlikely to achieve that if buying locally.
