The best ecommerce platform is amazon, by a very long way.

Vendors who sell from their own site (eg Shopify platform) and amazon most often find that their amazon sales greatly exceed anything else.

    Good luck with your ventures.

This is a very correct statement. Even if you set up your own very good e-commerce site and do a good job of driving traffic to it you will never come close to the amount of quality buyer traffic that Amazon has.

It may still make sense to have your own site but it makes a lot of sense to have a portion of your inventory available on Amazon via their FBA business model.

This is valuable advice. Selling first on marketplaces like Amazon, Ebay etc is a great way to get sales and validate your product before you invest in your own ecommerce store.

Your idea of creating e commerce store for your multi brand organic items is really unique and appreciable.

Creation of e commerce store mainly depends upon two factors-

      1) Budget

      2) knowledge (technical/non technical)

There are various ways to create ecommerce store but i won’t take much of your time in discussing about them in detail.

Basically there are three ways through which you can develop your ecommerce platform.

      -PHP (coding knowledge needed)
      -SaaS (Shopify)
      -Open source (Magento)

PHP based website requires either technical knowledge or a team of developers which can assist you in fixing issues and developing new addons to keep your store updated.

SaaS is basically designed for small business where you can opt for various functionalities and you don’t need a team to look after your technical issues but no large traffic can be entertained. You can opt for shopify to develop your ecommerce store it is SaaS based framework.

If you are planning really something huge and about to generate a high revenue in return open source is the Godsend framework for developing your ecommerce website, it is highly customizable and need technical assistance. It is capable in handling large traffic even if you convert your online store into online marketplace.

I would suggest you to opt for Magento it is highly customizable and you can convert your store into multi vendor marketplace easily with the help of Cedcommerce whenever needed.

If you are a startup, Amazon should be a worthy platform to improve your visibility and profits. The fee structure in Amazon is simple and more lucrative for sellers plus, the listings are free. eBay should also be a good platform in the sense that they do accommodate unique products and work up thoroughly purchase oriented buyer base. If you need affordable assistance in setting up, affordable ecommerce solution providing companies like ChannelSale can be of massive assistance. Good Luck for your venture

For me, you just can't ignore Amazon as the market is just so huge. However, I wouldn't recommend relying on Amazon for all your sales in the long term. I run an ecommerce business and got my start selling through Amazon FBA. Last year I opened up a Shopify store and am working to increase sales through this channel. I have heard so many horror stories of people who sell exclusively on Amazon losing their businesses over night. You are at Amazon's beck and call. It's important for the long term success of your business that you own your own customers.
