Questions about Amazon Affiliate website

Hi All. I've been doing heavy research here and and around the web for a few weeks, and finally am at the point where I could use some questions answered.

I found a niche to sell products based on my own pain points that I feel could be profitable over time, the only problem being that the products are difficult to find wholesale or dropshipped. My plans are to list amazons products on my website, build traffic, approach other established stores for affiliate opportunities, and eventually buy in bulk or manufacture my own product.

What I am trying to accomplish from the start:
  • Be able to simplify process of listing of Amazon items on my page. I want images, ratings and comments pulled, and I will highly customize the product listing.
  • I would like the items to not appear like Amazon listings, but match the look of my site, or at least be clean and simple looking and highly customizable.
  • I would prefer that customers can add items to a shopping cart while on my site, and then be pushed to Amazon for the checkout process.
  • I also want the ability to add other products of my own (or from other sources, i.e. eBay) that can have the same look as the Amazon products.
  • Ability to create a login to save favorites, wish lists, etc is a big plus.
  • I plan on building an email list, so any integrations there is good.

I saw a couple of affiliate Wordpress templates that looking promising for these features, but got very mixed reviews on the forums (terrible support & updates). I guess my main question is what is the best approach for creating this efficiently. Plugin(s) + WP ecommerce theme? Azn Affiliate-specific theme?

I am not opposed to investing in a good plugin/theme to save design & maintenance time. I already have access to all Elegant Themes, if there is something that works with their products.

I appreciate any insight. And links to examples are great too.

    1) Keep in mind, the goal for your Amazon site is to get them from your site to Amazon. That being said, you don't need every single product. Find the best selling and highest rated models to list on your website. Those are typically enough to get people to head off to Amazon via your link.

    2) Save the images to your hard drive and upload them to your site. Write the article / content, add the images and links, and you've got a custom post that doesn't look like Amazon's listings.

    3) I've never successfully setup the shopping cart deal using Associates. If someone else has gotten it to work, please chime in. Sending the visitor off to Amazon via a link works just fine, though.

    4) You just need to make sure the images look the same. Otherwise, it comes down to how you format and structure your posts.

    5) You need to hire a web developer or learn coding. I don't have much advice on that one.

    6) Use a basic autoresponder.

The best approach? Don't try to be Amazon. Start with what you've got, get traffic, and then use the profits to expand.

Thanks for the response. The idea behind my site is that I am curating items that could take a lot of time to find in the Amazon maze, and elsewhere online. I don't want to be Amazon, or necessarily mask that I am selling amazons items. I just want to streamline the shopping (searching) experience within my niche, and have the Amazon listings look like any others while on my website. I suppose the logistics of having non-Amazon items as well kind of kills the integrated shopping cart idea.

Ultimately I would have a couple hundred items, so something that could fetch pricing changes periodically would be good for managing a volume of items.

    Hello beefyking

We run a very large Affiliate Marketing Division. You don't need a Wordpress theme or plugin, the very best solution for you - and I mean THE VERY BEST SOLUTION, is a Store Building Software from freshstorebuilder.com

Go read through their website, I think it will cover all your specifications.

Hope that helps. Come back an tell me what you think. We have no association with them other than using their software..

    Cheers

      Thanks Lindy.

I'm a little confused on where the storebuilder site is hosted. On Amazon? On their servers?

I've decided to start with Divi theme + WooCommerce + Amazon Affiliates plugin available on Envato. The plugin seems to do everything I seek, is well reviewed and only $34.
