Hi, I am creating a new store with shopify to sell cheap stuff of Aliexpress using the free shipping but I am afraid of the complains of the buyers because the shipping takes long time. How do you deal with that problems? How can avoid that people talk bad things of my brand. I am starting with less budget and living outside the US, that is the reason that I am interesting selling with Free Shipping. Many thanks!

I order from Aliexpress and the shipping has been between 4 and one time 6 weeks! SO, it's not a business model that I would trust and rely on for drop shipping, but if you're outside of the USA it might be easier to explain the shipping delays. Just include the shipping timetable in your site's FAQ & shipping policy so that customer's know what to expect.

At some point you might want to consider keeping stock on hand or fulfillment. That all depends on your focus and future projections.

i would only ever trust DHL/Fedex or ePacket shipping methods for dropshipping. Seller handling time is another story.

It is not reliable and comfortable for any online company.
You must have to try another one for the best results. You can search on any search engine for getting the best.

aliexpress free shipping is just not tenable from a dropshipping perspective unless you REALLY have an upfront on how long it takes. I've had items take 2 months to arrive at times (from my own personal purchases). So, anything I want in a hurry? Just not a good idea to shop there! But to wait for a bit? np.

Any possibility of holding a small inventory? If you contact a merchant there directly, they will often make special provision for bulk sales, shipping to you with Fedex or DHL, and offering cheaper prices. You need then to choose things for your shopify store that don't rely heavily on size, like necklaces, bracelets, earrings, one-size tops and pants etc.

Use it to get the products to you, but do not use it as a dropshipping solution

  • Aliexpress deliver time is near 4 and one time 6 weeks! its not a good choice for u to start online business.
    1. the Packet loss rate is high
    2. Recovery of amount take long time
    3. after sale serive wont have much guarranty.so customer experience satisfaction will not be good.
based on that,u can condider it.
    hope it can help u.

Dropshipping from China to the US simply isn't practical. It's exactly the problem you're talking about. It takes way to long to ship to your customer. You'd be better off buying your product from China than "dropshipping" it through Amazon's multi-channel fulfillment.

Probably OK to start, but in the long-term you better find suppliers, which work for you on a regular basis and handle everything as you want.

Holding a small inventory is a very sensible idea and can be done at very low cost, but for best prices you should not use the retail site Aliexpress. You need to go direct to the real manufacturers. I have taught thousands how to do this on a low budget.

@violet0176 knows what he/she is talking about. It's certainly not a viable business model, even is some WF members are making a killing selling courses on how to do it. Some of them are promoting the idea of selling big brand names. DON'T DO IT. It is illegal. They say they are getting away with it, but I can tell you many people get caught.

The suggestion about keeping stock on hand or using a fulfillment service is a good idea. People outside of the US are doing this very successfully.

You can sell direct in the US on a low budget even though you are outside the US.

One thing that can help you is to buy direct from the manufacturers. This can get you massive margins. Some of my book users have posted on the forum about selling at cost X 300% and 500%. I know many who have started with as little as $300, although being outside the US you might need a bit more than that to cover setting up costs.

I personally suggest using a US based fulfillment center and have them store your items (could just be 5 items if necessary), that way your shipping issues are not affecting customers.

Very sensible suggestion. Marketing studies have shown that price is only the 4th most important factor in buying decisions.

If you don't give fast and reliable service you might get the first order, but no repeats.

been ripped off to many times from these suppliers, if you find a good one stick with them but it takes forever to get your product 6 weeks not good for this type of business model...

You've got to go epacket. A bit more expensive but worth getting people of your back about late shipments.

Also make it clear what your shipping expected times are. People will still buy.
