Wish.com questions

Hello,

I read an article that Amazon bid $10B (!) on Wish.com but got declined. I had a look at their website and app and understand they somehow bulk import products from Aliexpress and offer the same price of those products as Aliexpress on their own site. They dont seem to hold any inventory themself but send order data to the Aliexpress supplier who then sends it out directly to the customer.

A few questions:

-How do they make money? My guess is that they get a commission on each product sold from Aliexpress? Are they using their affiliate program? Wish.com also add $1 on each order as shipping fee although their actual shipping fee is $0 as they dont ship any products.

-How do they import all the products? Are they using a software or letting merchants upload everything themselves?

-How do they sync orders with Aliexpress merchants? When buying a product on Wish.com everything happens inside their interface, hence the user is not sent to Aliexpress to complete the order there so there must be some sort of integration with Aliexpress?

    I have had personal experience with Wish and they are one of the worst sites to deal with in every way possible. Orders don't get delivered or are months to arrive. Help is non-existent...and so the issues go on and on. I recommend you stay away.

      Yeah im not going to buy anything from them. The reasons why it takes so long is because they order from Aliexpress merchants from China and cant control shipping and I guess its hard for them to have good support if they dont control this process. However, Amazon still tried to buy them for $10B, hence my interest.

    I recently read an article on Wish.... can't remember source unfortunately, but Wish makes ALOT of money despite its issues with shipping and sometimes product quality. However people LOVE deals and if your selling an item that normally would be 3 to 4 times the price even though it may take long to reach you alot of people don't mind the wait so much.

    And I believe if I am not mistaken Wish makes their money as a marketplace in which various chinese sellers post their listings and Wish takes a cut. Looks like Wish is selling the items but there are stores within Wish that sellers are selling items... pretty much like Amazon.

      You have to pay the membership to order anything from Wish.com, and then they are not dependable to get your product. I think Amazon trying to purchase is a rumor at best and a marketing stunt.

        They must have changed this since you were there because I never had to pay a membership fee when I signed up. I have read about people having negative experiences with Wish but for me all the orders I have placed have arrived in less than a month and have all arrived in good condition. Hopefully my good streak with Wish continues and I haven't inadvertently jinxed myself!
