Best Platform For An Online Store

I'm helping my wife build an online store that will offer hair products for sale.

Here are 2 sites she likes:

http://www.karidahair.com & http://supermodelhair.co

I am familiar with wordpress sites so my leaning is to build the site on that platform.

However I'm hearing about woo commerce, Shopify, Squarespace, Wix, prestashop, ecwid and now I'm totally confused about how to proceed.

I would therefore be grateful for ideas about which way to go.

1. Should I stick with a wordpress site and will it be robust enough?

2. If no to the answer above then what should I do???

Many Thanks!

    Depends 'pon your destination, Cap'n.

If you are really more interested in building sites, maintaining and endlessly fixing and fiddling with them as things break then go with wordpress, woo commerce.

However, if you are interested in actually selling stuff in volume and building a real ecommerce business then shopify.

Good luck with your journey, Cap'n.

I would vouch for Shopify or BigCommerce.
    1. Shopify has 243,000+ active users
    2. BigCommerce has 95,000+ active users
Not only are their storefront beautiful and professional (which is important in convincing your visitors to at least stay on your site to look around), they have a massive library of apps in their marketplace so you can pick and choose which functions you want to bolt on to your store.
With Shopify and BigCommerce, both have marketplaces where you can pick and choose both free and paid apps to add more functionality to your business. They are such powerful platforms because they have the depth to grow along side your business as you grow, while other more â€Å"generic†website builders can only take you so far.
