Facebook banned me for ecommerce ads.

I've been using facebook ads in the last couple months to promote free plus shipping ecommerce products and everything was going good. Making money, awesome quality scores on my ads and positives comments and likes on the ads themselves and then out of nowhere, I get my ad account banned. I was using the free plus shipping model. Is facebook clamping down on these kinds of ads? Or could it be another reason. I've always delivered my products. This is what they wrote me:
Hi Jonathan,

Thanks for reaching out to us. Your account has been disabled for not following Facebook's Advertising Guidelines.

Ad accounts are evaluated for policy compliance and quality of ad content. When accounts have run ads that are not policy compliant, they are disabled.

Your account was disabled for running misleading ads that resulted in high negative feedback from people on Facebook. Our goal is to provide the highest quality user experience. We reserve the right to reject any advertising that we deem contrary to these objectives. Similarly, we reserve the right to close an account creating ads contrary to these objectives.

For this reason, if any of your ads have been removed or your ad account has been disabled, we will be unable to reactivate either. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Please consider this decision final.

Thanks for your understanding,

Victor

Note that they did not tell me what policy violation I actually did. I specified in all my ads that the item was free but they had to pay shipping and handling. Any thoughts? Is free plus shipping ecommerce model dead?

"Your account was disabled for running misleading ads that resulted in high negative feedback from people on Facebook." is the policy that you violated - Misleading ads.

While you say that you did clearly specify it was a free item but they had to pay shipping, people are stupid. The complaints you got most likely came from people who didn't read your description and thought they had been tricked when they went to checkout on your website.

The model is still alive, but it can be a hard one to push.

Yes, sad but true, people Don't read, especially Freebie Seekers, all they see if FREE, and then find out there is shipping cost, want to complain, probably flagged your add, and that promoted FB to take action.
Model can work, just need to state your shipping cost very clearly in your add.

Thanks guys, that's what I figured also but it's always good to have a second opinion. Anyways I've moved on to better things than promoting free shipping products on facebook. Was good while it lasted but now it's time to create my own product and create a real marketing funnel. Cheers!

Well, in my opinion Facebook is not completely wrong here. In my experience Free + Shipping models work with really high shipping fees, and people are not dumb enough to think that it is really free. They can imagine that parts of the usual price are just put on the shipping fee.

So yeah, I agree, people generally tend not to read, but this model is something that gets more and more popular and more and more people tend not to "fall" for it.

Did you say that they have to pay shipping in your ad though? This is something I would do, this may decrease the CTR but leads to less paid but non-converting clicks.

It's like the infomercials you always see when they say, "Order right now and receive a second one free - just pay additional fees." What does that even mean!?
