Hello,

I have a new estore and a problem to solve and I need your help please.

American customers when they buy online, they can buy in Euro paying with credit cards or only in USD?

I am tempted to have Euro instead of USD as currency.

Please advise.

Thanks.

To be completely honest, I'm not sure. I'm guessing that it would work just fine.

But I can tell you this... As an American if I go to a site where the currency is in Euros, I just back on out of that site and move on to the next.

My ecommerce site is mainly America. Several years ago I had a customer from Europe and basically the credit card processor converted the currencies so I got what I was supposed to in USD and the customer was charged the equivalent in their currency.

I would contact my merchant account for verification

Well there is no difference, no matter what currency you put on your website even if i have only macedonian denars on my card and your currency is euros or dollars the money are converted to your currency and my account will by deducted by the amount in denars equivalent to the amount of euros i have to pay. So i so not think you will do anything if you change your currency. Also your currency should be the currency of the market you are selling most of your products. For me it has no sense if i sell 100 products a month in US to have euro for primary currency and i sell only one product per month in Europe.

The problem is with the payment gateway who give for free services only in euro. Otherwise I had to pay 25 Euro monthly.

But they should still be converting for you. If not then get a paid service. because the euro is on your end not the person buying.

They should do the conversion? Maybe they will but will I lose money?

    Thanks,
