So i'm doing some product research and noticed some products on Aliexpress have a name attached to it. How do you know if it's an actual trademarked brand or something they just made up? I found a supplier and they have their own store within aliexpress and the name of the store is the brand. I contacted them and they do drop shipping. So my question is, if I feature their products in my store, do I have to use their name or can I slap my own name on there?

On AliExpress (or Dropshipping in general) it is almost always impossible to customize products. To do so, you usually have to buy a specific quantity in bulk. I recently bought 4k worth of products in bulk for example to print my logo on it and get my custom packages.

The only way to know the answer to your question is to contact the supplier. Nobody here can tell you.

Chances are, if they are dropshipping, it will be their brand. If you buy in bulk, they may be willing to use any brand name you create. Never hurts to ask, though!

The only way you can be sure if the trademark is registered is to do a trademark search.

Beware of buying and selling trademark registered items. You will find them on Aliexpress, and importing and selling them is illegal unless the manufacturer has an international license, which is rare.

I suggest you have a look at my post about the risks of using Aliexpress as the foundation for a dropshipping business. See: Did i understand dropshipping correctly?
