I use photoshop and powerpoint for all of my listings on eBay. Photoshop I use the free trial and powerpoint I have from my college days. I use them as a combination because my knowledge of ps is limited. That is as far as image editing.

Now I usually grab an image from the internet of the product preferably high resolution, cut out the product and put it on a white background. Then I'll head over the competition and see how they are listing their products.

Are they putting text on their images? Maybe to highlight key selling points e.g. "Free Shipping"

Are they putting multiple versions of their products in one image. E.g., phone covers with different colors. Etc.

Then I will just copy whatever the top sellers are doing. I never copy word for word but the general idea and rephrase. Moreover, for the product description I usually follow this format:

1) Give very detailed description of product.

2) Type "What you will get:" and bullet point what the buyer will receive. I include absolutely everything. For example, all of the accessories.

3) "Notes:" and write a bullet point list of what the buyer should know of the product. For example, if you're selling a vape pen tell them for how long they can expect to use before batteries goes out. How to use the product, different power settings. How to turn off product etc. You get the idea. And I will list any return policy in this section.

The point is to be as specific with your product as possible. Down to the last detail. You cover everything and that is how you can make your listing stand out and sell. No need for expensive editing software or things of that nature. I have anywhere from 100+ orders a week following this format. So far it is working.

Just to add to what everyone is saying. Make sure to optimize the information or description of your products as well. It helps in getting in on the search results pages on a favorable position.
