Hi,

Me and my partner recently opened our online sex shop ( 30 th sep ) and we really need help and input.

We haven't made our first sale yet and wondering how to advertise our shop?
So far we have google adwords ( which aren't working as it says our site isn't working ) .
And have posted on facebook too.

We would really appreciate all the help and support we can get.

Thankyou.

Obviously you have no idea what you are doing. Hire someone that does.

You are not even at the stage where people can offer you relevant, helpful information, although that will not stop those that love to hear themselves bloviate from attempting to do so.

If you are not prepared to make at least a minimal financial investment to get your site off to a start with some level of professionalism, you deserve to fail. Yes - I know - harsh.

    Good luck.

    Frank

Why would your adword links not work?? I'd look into that pronto.
Without seeing the store or even know how many visitors you've had so far, no one can even begin to guess what the problem is.

there is a great chasm between the sex shop you have now and the profitable sex shop you want..

i have no idea if you researched this industry or if you know your target audience..

some might tell you that paid ads on porn sites are affordable..

but you're going to need a budget to test your ad copy, squeeze pages etc...

then you gotta worry about the nightmarish world of selling physical products online ,if you dont have the infrastructure in place, subscriber engagement, shipping costs, customer service etc....

i hope at least your partner is making progress.

    best of luck,

Not sure what you are selling. An online sex shop can mean a lot of different things.

However, that is about the most competitive online market place you could have gotten into. Unless it is something very niche or very new, you are going to need a serious marketing budget to break into it in most cases. Something lie $8-10 per month to get started. I would probably even recommend more than that so you could run some radio spots and maybe print ads as well across the nation.

Take a look at what successful online shops like Adam & Eve are doing.

If you are doing it as an affiliate through something like Amazon, you are probably best just closing up shop now. Amazon's commissions are garbage. You will never make a profit in that market unless you just get lucky. If you are reselling products or have created a product of your own, then you have a much better shot of turning a profit.

Getting back to traffic, the successful online shops are almost entirely using paid ads, mostly on porn sites or adult dating type sites. Forget AdWords. You will likely spend more than you will make, especially if you are fairly new to internet marketing, which it sounds like you are. Plan on losing most of your advertising budget the first few months as you figure out which ads work, which traffic sources work, etc.

wow $8-10? you mean 8-10k of advertising? but thanks for sharing. i strongly doubt 8-10 bucks will get you anywhere.

sounds like 2-3 adwords clicks to me more than likely haha and the budget is blown

What kind of sex shop? Do you drop ship? Are you handling product? Do you sell digital products?

For a sex shop? That depends on the product you want to sell. In general, you should plan at least one ad for every kind of product you offer.

If you go the lazy way and try to advertise the shop instead of the products, you will quite likely fail. After all, no one cares who sells what. They just care about where you find the what you are after.
