Hi People, im new to the forum, im from Spain and I love to talk about Ecommerce and Social Media, two things that are currently being developed in my Country.

We had our black friday a few days ago, an event that has been hosted by Brands and Companies for a few years now, and its getting bigger and louder every year, it has become an excellent way for promoting Ecommerce in my country.

Some newspaper have been conducting studies about it, and the results really show how big black friday is getting. Almost 50% of the brands recognizes the event as very important for the development of their business, and 36% of them are expecting to increase their sales in the campaign.

Here in Spain, the brands really use Black Friday as an opportunity to increase their online sales, they promote their products with important discounts and payments options, and they also create specialized marketing campaigns for the event.

Almost 25% of the medium and small companies (or as we know them: "pymes") have participated of this years Black Friday, businessman are really trying to use Ecommerce in their companies, this is a great sign for the economy.

Black Friday is also making some important changes in Consumers and the way they behave, studies have shown that a lot of them are actually using the event for making their Christmas shopping, they prefer to take advantage of the special offers for buying their gifts, even if that means doing it two months earlier than expected. Some small businessman are claiming this is actually bad for them, because the Christmas campaign is where they get 20% of their annual profits, and if the Black Friday stole those profits from them, then their numbers get red.

This is just another discussion between companies that are trying to adapt to the new times, and companies that prefer to keep the old ways, even if that means their profits will go down.

During the 2015 Black Friday, more than 1200 million euros in sales were made, a 10% increase compared to 2014, we still dont have this year results, but im quite sure that we had also experienced another growth.

Many brands have also used Black Friday as a way to recover some deficits they had this year, the fashion companies for example, have experience a drop of 7.5% in the sales so far, because of the high temperatures we experienced in winter, so now they have used Black Friday as a way to get rid of all the stock they have left from winter.

Black Friday is also a great opportunity for new brands, they use the event as a way of introduce their self to consumers and start their branding process.

Ecommerce is really changing the way we buy and sell things, and Black Friday is just another proof of that, for the brands, the challenge is quite clear, either they adapt, or disappear.

I promise to post this years numbers in this posts as soon as they are published.

I would love to hear experiences from other countries that are also hosting this kind of events, are the brands really using them?
