Everybody does this wrong, always looking for the easy way, which is why dropshipping gets such a bad rap. The best thing is to call the manufacturer directly to see if they will dropship. If they say "no" ask them for any major distributors of theirs' contact information. That is the only way you will get good wholesale pricing.

dropshipping is corrupt right now, too many people want to do it and the prices are way too high, the best way to do it is to buy wholesale and keep your storage in your garage or a private storage and send the products when they are bought.

While stocking and shipping, yourself, is certainly a model where you can easily find suppliers, it is a much higher risk proposition than dropshipping and is far more work. It not only severely limits the variety of products you can carry but it also ties you to your business because you always need to be around to pack and ship things (unless you are using a fulfillment center, which adds more to your cost).

The problem is not with dropshipping nor is it with the number of people who are "doing it" because most people have no clue how to source products and get good wholesale prices. They all end up getting products through the same tired old places with very bad deals - Worldwide Brands, Alibaba, etc. That's a good thing for those of us who know how to negotiate good deals with the actual manufacturers. The people doing it the wrong way are no competition at all!

        I agree with you.

Yes, buying in bulk is an option: if you are confident with your product and want to establish a brand. This of course only works with a very small product variety, but it can offer you valuable distinction in both differentiation AND price.

However, the average nowadays dropshipper sees the whole thing more as "just another source of income" than a real business: this can already be identified by the fact that the absolute vast majority of these new market entrants don't even register a business, nor give a sh*t about taxes nor think about anything which goes beyond the content being presented on YouTube etc. For these people the only real platform is Aliexpress, where you will never find good deals - simply because its a consumer-oriented site. If a product seems like an awesome deal, its usually because the quality is absolutely poor.

If you want to really dedicate yourself to the business, do what dave said and see it more seriously. Contact suppliers, analyze their rates and compare them, take a look at sample pictures or, if you offer a very limited product catalog, even buy samples. Yes, will take more time, yes, its more work - but will help you enormously.

That is very motivating , and I think is the best advice I ever got about dropshipping strategy , the only matter is the minimum order required they request which could not be afforded but as you just said it worths a shot , you cleared my mind, I had this idea that Dropshipping is mostly easy, and Aliexpress,ebay,etc.... are full of dropshipper but now things seems more clear for me

It's all about how you handle things when they are presented to you. We did a a webinar about how to handle all of the objections, demands and random things suppliers may throw at you when you call them. Unfortunately, it was not an open webinar and is only available to people who are Pro members of our training program.

To oversimplify things, if they say they have a minimum order requirement it never hurts to tell them that you have no problem buying in bulk but not until AFTER you have seen which products of theirs are the ones that sell the best on your website, which can only be done if they are dropshipped - just like all of the other suppliers do. Once we have been set up for dropshipping, we have NEVER been asked about ordering in bulk sometime later.

If they refuse to dropship, you can still ask them about people who order large quantities from them/distributors who they can hook you up with who may dropship for you.

One other thing I should mention. Quite often, manufacturers will make the claim that they are not set up for shipping things onesy-twosey to customers. This is simply not true in almost every case. All manufacturers get returns and product exchanges. Those most certainly are shipped out one at a time. And, if they have their own site that sells products direct to the public, they definitely ship things one at a time.

The idea that manufacturers require large MOQs is a myth - at least as far as overseas suppliers are concerned.

Sure, if you go to a B2B website, you will see suppliers quoting big MOQs, but you don't have to order those huge quantities. I have taught hundreds how to negotiate small orders regardless of the big MOQs quoted.

Just like buying locally, you must find the real manufacturer, and on most of the popular B2B sites that isn't easy unless you know what you are doing. For example, on Alibaba, Global Sources etc, almost every supplier claims to be a manufacturer but they are traders.

There are sites where suppliers listed as manufacturers really are manufacturers, but even on places like Alibaba I show people how to teach how to find which ones are genuine.

If you want high profit margins, stocking inventory is the way to go.
