Yet another "Amazon didn't approve my application!" thread

That's right guys, you love to read 'em, we love to write 'em.

So my site was recently rejected and I was given the following response:

"Hello,

After careful review of your Associates application, we've decided not to approve your application to become an Amazon Associate. Accordingly, we've closed the account under which you had been temporarily approved.

We have taken this step because we have previously closed an account that we have determined belongs to you or a person affiliated with you or acting in concert with you for violations of the Associates Program Operating Agreement, the Product Advertising API License Agreement, or one of the other Associates Programs operated by our affiliates.

You can find the complete terms of the Operating Agreement and its Schedules via this link: https://affiliate-program.amazon.com...ates/agreement.

Thank you for your understanding."

Fair enough. Seems bizarre to me. Such a vague response. The thing is, there is no possible way that I am affiliated with or acting in concert with anyone on my site. It's just me and the only other amazon affiliate site I run is not affected. In fact I'm kind of scared they will link me to this new site and ban my other one. I'm glad I started a new account so that my original site didn't get banned too.

The thing is, I want to try to reapply but they have made it pretty clear that they won't accept my application.

Has anyone had any success with calling Amazon and finding out the reason for their rejection? For your information, this is their response when I asked for my information:

"
Hello, Ben.

As previously stated, weve determined that we're not able to approve your application to become an Amazon Associate. Future applications will most likely be rejected as well.

You can find the complete terms of the Operating Agreement, including the Linking Requirements and Participation Requirements, via this link: https://affiliate-program.amazon.com...ates/agreement.

Because this decision is final, further requests to review your application will not receive a response.

Thank you for your understanding.

Best regards,
Thank you.

It would be nice to find an alternative affiliate but the commission for my niche is famously low elsewhere (electronics).

I know a lot of you will say "Read the email, that is the reason why they shut down your account". But it makes no sense to me. I mean if it was a linking problem or disclaimer problem at least I would know, but it seems like they are saying they shut my site down because they believe I am someone who is affiliated with another site they shut down.

This makes me think there is indeed nothing wrong with my site and it's a mistake which is incredibly frustrating. I WAS running skimlinks on my site during the process, could this have potentially been what did it?

Apologies to start another one of these threads but I just wanted some opinions before I continue (or give something like CJ/newegg a try).

It seems to me that they are saying they closed this account because of a previous site associated with you.

Yes but I have not been associated with ANY sites before this one. Especially none that have been closed down. It's quite frustrating because I think they made a mistake but I'm not sure how to prove it.

I've emailed them asking them to explain further but they obviously are convinced. It's ridiculous.

Obviously, some combination of name, bank account number, mailing address, eMail address, IP address, etc. is sending up some sort of red flag there.

Have you tried picking up the phone? Email is the least effective way of communicating with anyone in business. They can be ignored, sent response form letters, deleted and the length of time it takes to send - receive - send - receive is not very conducive to getting things done.
