Chinese New Year and AliExpress

For those of you using AliExpress..

How do you deal with Chinese New Year with AliExpress products?

Say I found great rated sellers/products and shipped with epacket.. I would hate to be good 95% of the time but then have angry customers the other 5% as that 5% of the time could potentially damage the brand.

I could potentially announce the delay on my website and social media of course to at least be transparent with customers... but is there any other way around that?

ALSO if anyone has any ideas for which tools to use to set up an AliExpress store let me know. I am thinking Shopify with Apps to pull in products /send orders and have also seen a few other products but not sure which are legitimately good to use.

    Hi Victoria,

I am sorry to tell you that there is no way to get around that problem if you want to dropship from suppliers on Aliexpress.

Your suppliers simply won't be there for about a month, so shipment of orders will stop during that period. See my reply to your post in the thread: Started my AliExpress Dropshipping Adventure Yesterday!

I imagine the only way around it would be to have some of some of the products in hand, physically. Shipped by yourself or a fulfillment center.

By the next CNY you'd know your popular items to stock. As for the least popular items, you can just list as out of stock and allow them to 'pre-order'

Exactly, thats also what I did last CNY.

However, keep in mind that many customers are extremely impatient, especially around the Christmas season. So with CNY coming, you may also think of making the appropriate products non-sellable. What might happen is that people buy and then request a refund/chargeback at some point because they don't want to wait any longer (messing with your payment proccessors).

Alternatively, you do something like a preorder where the customer puts himself onto an email list.

The last sentence is an excellent idea. Pre-ordering that doesn't require any payment would minimize the risk of getting an angry customer and there can't be any bad feedback.

Agree with this, if you can make an estimated guess of your sales, just have enough product on hand.

Walter Hay, Splatterfox and bobbyfirmino all had good ideas. We've dealt with this in the past with websites that dropshipped from China and we simply ran a banner across every page in the header informing people that there would be a 2-3 week delay in shipping. We still got orders and nobody complained.
