Hello everyone,
I want to start an ecommerce site but the clients will just place their orders online, no payments online will be done.
I will have to keep track of order status, shipping methods, and such things.
My store will contain about 20000 different items from beverage to food.
Anyone has a suggestion which free ecommerce platform is bet for this?
Thanks!

Sorry, but I am trying to figure out how you make money if the customer does not pay you online. How will you get their money?

People buy online for convenience. It is really not convenient to have to sit around all day waiting for UPS or Fedex to show up so you can pay them.

I have to wonder why you would do that. It sure is not normal and will instantly cause people to wonder if you are a legitimate business. I imagine it may also create a whole lot of problems at the delivery stage.

In the Philippines, it's called C.O.D. (Cash on Delivery) Customers make an order of the items online and the customers pay when the items are delivered. However, the company also owns the delivery service. Others hire a delivery service and the company pays via commission or the delivery service has their own rates depending how far the location of the customers home or office.

If someone can't pay for something upfront, how can they pay for something later?

It sounds like a recipe for going broke fast.

Any of the ecommerce platforms can have any number of payment options and we do use a "pay on account" option in B2B transactions but these are where we have account customers.

Even in this situation the movement is towards payment upfront as more and more of our business clients have corporate credit cards and it makes their accounting functions that much easier.

Many of the bigger companies are broken up into smaller teams or departments and each of those has individual budgets and accounting requirements. Hence the corporate card system.

For the general public if they can't pay up front particularly for food and beverages then you are selling to the wrong group.

    Best regards,

    Ozi

    Hi Pasin - You say
My store will contain about 20000 different items from beverage to food.
. Are you only doing an online food delivery service or will you be dropshipping items from wholesalers? If it's a food service, I can see what you are saying. It's very similar to calling my local pizza store and placing an order. I can pay them on delivery in cash. Granted, these days I tend to order online with my credit card and then only have to sign the slip and add a tip for the driver. Can you explain your business in a little more detail? That will help others to answer your question. There are so many ecommerce solutions out there today that I'm sure there is one that could handle your situation.
