So am I launching an e-commerce store in the Outdoor/hiking/Survival niche.

I have never had ran an e-commerce store before, but my plan is dropshipping and driving traffic through FB ads. I have a pretty good idea what i'm doing as i'm following Adrian Morrisons Ecom Success Academy.

I am simply after some feedback on what to expect, what to look out for, your experiences that may help me on my way.

Please, don't flood me with negativity. I am looking for constructive advice.

Much appreciated.

For selling physical products online no place is better than Amazon. if you have the capability to obtain the items yourself at a decent price than you may want to consider placing a small portion of your inventory on Amazon as FBA inventory. You might find that it sells really well it you price it correctly.

When people go online to make a purchase the majority of them go directly to Amazon so that is where huge amounts of buyer traffic resides. It only makes sense IMO to have your inventory there where they can find it.

I'd agree that Amazon is excellent for driving sales and you do not need to have any inventory if you have a reliable dropshipper. That said, Amazon charges 15%-20% per sale, which makes it out of the question for many dropshipping niches.

    Hi Kevd10,

What I've found out over the years I've been running ecommerce sites is it isn't so much about the products but more about the surrounding systems to make the sale easy and to improve cart values.

Things like using a double header.

Utilising the scroll depth and making heavy use of the footer area to promote social proof, guarantees, a second opt in etc etc.

    Using Junction box type navigation.

Have good pre-sell content and leveraging things like say Zendesk support and chat coupled with a good marketing CRM like Kaviyo or Active Campaign.

Making sure you are fully utilising the tracking and segmentation offered by connecting the opt-ins and their viewing habits. Couple that with retargeting and targeted email followup linked the products viewed. - Easy if you are using an integrated shopping cart say like Shopify.

Then having things in place to bundle products into offers others don't sell.

Making cross sell and upsell offers.

Making sure you have abandoned cart followups functioning accurately.

Running a followup campaign to check on the delivery status and then follow up to solicit reviews.

Then make sure you have some back end offers.

Then make sure you have a customer reactivation campaign.

There are others but look at the peripheral things like those above to boost your returns.

    Best regards,

    Ozi

Launching a e-commerce is a good idea and go for it. Yes facebook ads will give you good exposure at the same time you need to have much analysis of your products and regions where you are going to target. website should also well optimized and as suggested you can do on amazon which is added one to you to bear intiial huddles and branding. You need to focus on branding of your site too.

    What to expect?

Well, what you do is buy your own product and have it shipped to you. Now you know what to expect.
    • Was the checkout complicated?
    • Did the package arrive?
    • Was the package damaged?
    • Was the order correct?
    • How long did the package take to get to you?
    • etc...

You have to walk through your own sales funnel otherwise you're just guessing.

    Don't guess.

Don't spend too much on FB ads you can't build a sustainable business on paid ads.

Try building up a following through the outdoor community and hopefully if your products are good enough it will sell

I think every niche is profitable according to Nick peroni. But the reality is every niche is saturated now. Facebook Ads is also being costly day by day. If you can master Facebook Ads then yes you'll be successful other wise no chance. You can also try seo and it'll work great but need time

starting out with FB ads can be a good idea, but permanently basing your business model off of paying for ads will greatly reduce your profits
