Is Automatic Fulfillment From A Blog Store Possible

Hi Warriors,

I think I have a process of ecom using WP down (e.g. using woocommerce), but I'm getting stuck at nutting out automated fulfillment.

Could someone please explain, how do I confirm a successful payment of a physical item I'm selling (e.g. through Stripe) and then automatically send the customer details to my dropship supplier so that the whole fulfillment process is automated?

Is there multiple ways to do this, such as a generic WP plugin or supplier supported tools? Or is this possible only in a very limited way?

I'd appreciate a simple description of this part of the sales process, based on the WP platform. Please mention specific sites or tools that could make it happen.

If you don't know the specific process but know a training course (or forum thread) that explains it, mentioning that may be very helpful, too.

    There appear to be numerous apps for WooCommerce that accomplish this. Just do a search for "woocmmerce automate dropshipping" and you will see several, like this one - https://woocommerce.com/products/woo...-dropshipping/

    We have not tried any of them because we do not recommend automating fulfillment. It does not give you an opportunity to screen orders for fraud or catch obvious order errors and it cannot possibly take 5 minutes to send an order to a supplier, manually. Of course, if you are getting 12 orders an hour, it might be worth it but we'd just hire a VA to screen the orders and submit them at that point.

      The one I provided a link to clearly states that it will email your supplier. It is called a dropshipping app, which has nothing to do with digital products.

      Did you type in "dropshipping" or just type in "automated fulfillment"?

    I used to dropship and I used 3dcart as my ecommerce solution. If I were to start dropshipping again I would use them again I do not think I would ever use a WP theme and plugins for selling anything other than digital products.

    With that said in 3dcart and most other ecommerce solutions there is an email contact sequence you can send customers. for example the way mine was set up was after initial payment was sent they got an automatic email that thanked them for the order. I would then send the order to my dropship company once I received the confirmation form them I would change the customers status to confirmed once this happened they would automatically get another email, then when the order was shipped I would again change the customers status and they would get another email with the tracking number. Then I would check the tracking numbers and once I saw that the customer received the product I would change the status to complete and the system would wait 1 week then send the final email asking for a review.

    One other thing. I never mentioned I was dropshipping and my dropshipper always used my company name and address on the shipping label. The customer was mine and I kept it that way

    You should contact woocommerce and see if they have this feature.

      Great reply agmccall, thank you! I'll have to look at 3dcart. My interest is in delivering a single landing page, single product, using FB ads. I figure WP can handle this.

      Is there any reason you gave up dropshipping, perhaps related to time or difficulty, or was it just the right time to walk away and try something else?

        We use 3DCart for a lot of our eCommerce sites. They even have a way to set it up so that your supplier gets automatically notified when an order comes in, so you do not have to manually place the order with them.

        But I agree; a single product, one page "website" is probably best on WP.

          That's what I meant when I referred to "automatic fulfillment" in my original post. Did I use the wrong term? Is there another interpretation of "automatic fulfillment" that I am completely missing? What is the best term for the process you are describing?

            Nope, your term is just fine; I just reworded it. I had to point that out because agmccall only talked about templated emails to customers and did not mention anything about the automatic fulfillment settings in 3DCart.
