My Dropshipping idea?

My Ecommerce idea is to have a comparison site showing how much the product costs on amazon against my product cost (mine is 50% cheaper)

The customer would be able to see this clickable link for themselves and would obviously buy from me.

What do you think?
How would one go about setting this up?

I suppose you would start off by miraculously finding a supplier that Amazon or any of the sites advertising on Amazon hasn't found that will give you much better wholesale prices than Amazon gets.

Then, you'd simply have a "compare Amazon's price" link that opens in a separate tab/window so that people do not lose their way back to your amazing price.

I'd also suggest you think about pricing - being cheaper than Amazon is smart and showing people that would definitely drive sales, but you want to know how much cheaper than Amazon you have to be to get someone to buy from you. You don't want to be 50% of the price if most people would buy for 60% of the price (and so on...). If you're still in the process of getting this going , or are already doing it, then I'd be really interested to speak more with you about pricing strategies and how to work out exactly what you should be charging. If you are struggling with finding the supplier Dave describes then clever pricing and undercutting Amazon by just the right amount could be a way around having to find a massively cheaper wholesaler

A lesson I learned when I had my ecommerce site was that this is not always true. We had a great price on our product and priced at a decent profit margin and still came in much cheaper than our competitors. But our sales did not start climbing until we got competitive with our pricing. People will think of the old adage that " If it looks too good to be true then it probably is.

What we did instead was raise our prices to be competitive and then offer free shipping. Same profit margin more sales.

It is a good idea to show people the price difference right away but it won't ensure sales if that's what you're looking for.

There are many instances where people would still purchase from Amazon because of the trust factor. So, I think the main focus should be on creating a trustworthy brand first and then using these strategies to make sales.
