Hello All,

If you create your own ecommerce store and using paypal as your payment processor,

Here is an example:

Lets just say i am selling products with a 14 day return policy and it is stated in the return & exchange section of my ecommerce store.

A buyer then purchases a product then after use it's broken after the 14 day return window contacts me requesting return or refund.

I give them the link what it outlines my 14 day return for damages

Buyer insist poorly made product that didn't meat his or her expectations.

Buyer opens up a dispute in paypal requesting refund or exchange

I submit to paypal my link where it outlines my 14 day return for damages

How does Paypal deal with this in-store policy vs the standard buyer 180 day protection policy??

I appreciate any discussion or if you have past experience on this subject

Thx

Just refund for crying out loud. Why waste time and emotion on this when you could refund and then get back to making sales?

You're going to get customers that do this, it's part of the game, just refund and get them out of your hair.

A lot of this comes down to what you are selling and what your real costs are. It's a major problem if you are selling things that cost a thousand dollars. Of course in that case, those type of products usually have at least a one year warranty.

If you are selling something that only has a 14 day warranty, you are selling junk and will likely lose any dispute filed with PayPal. You know it's junk (and so should the consumer) when it only has a 14 day warranty. Of course, these things rarely cost you much so you chalk it up as a cost of doing business.

If nothing else, it is a lesson learned and a product you should probably stop selling.

this is an issue but if you think for some reason that the customer is not fair, ask for images or video of the broken or not working item, sometimes you can solve their issue. you can also ask them to send back the item and then you can send it to the factory or your supplier and you get a refund for it.
