I received about 50,000+ attempts to reach the wp-admin file on my website last year, despite the fact that it's not a WordPress site.

I'm trying to decrease site 404 errors, so currently have all the WordPress hacking attempts directed to my homepage. I've realized, however, that this will probably play havoc with my analytics, amping up the visitor count--but also increasing the bounce rate.

What should I do with these hacking attempts? Is there a site I can redirect to that would serve to annoy them or slow down their process? Should I just let them all 404 on my server? Is there some best practice for dealing with this kind of traffic?

Thx.

Do you have Wordfence installed? That's a good start - even the free version has plenty of options for limiting these kinds of attack.

Who says you can't earn money as an eBay affiliate any more? My stats say otherwise
