Dropshipping from China to UK

Hi All,

I have recently joined this forum in search of some answers that I need.

I am looking to start a store where I will hopefully be drop shipping products from China to the UK. I understand most of the import duty taxes, customs charges etc but one thing that I don't understand is how customs will know the value of the item if I ask the manufacturer to not include and promotions/ pricings on the package?

If anyone who knows of drop shipping to the UK or even better anyone who has drop shipped to the UK can help me it would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Bertie

The shipper has to fill out a Shippers Export Declaration form with a declared value.

Hi Dave thank you for your reply, its greatly appreciated.

So is this shippers export declaration form separate to the package? Basically I was wondering how 'Blind Dropshipping' works in the UK because they need to know the value of the item in the package but I don't want my customers to know how much I've paid for the item (for obvious reasons) but customs need to know how much I've paid for it.

      Thanks,

      Bertie

I've been dropshipping for some time now and yes to the UK too.

your supplier will have to put a valuation number on the customs form as a legal requirement there is nothing you can do about that but trust me your customer will not take any notice of the valuation on the packet.

Why listen to me? I've been doing XXX,XXX per month dropshipping from China for a very good while now

      Hi Beast,

Do you have any information on how it all works when drop shipping to the UK or any advice?

I've been trying to do it for a while but there are more obstacles because I want to ship inside the EU.

      Thanks,

      Bertie

I know that many websites put something in their Shipping & Returns section that states that they typically declare a lower value in order to reduce the VAT fees customers may have to pay. So, it sounds like they are doing a good thing for their customers.

I order things from China all the time and never look at the forms all over the package. Most of them are in Chinese so I couldn't read them anyway. I just tear open the package to get my stuff!

      Hi Dave,

I guess you're right with regards to not taking any notice on whats on the outside of the package. I just hope the price is in a different language so the customers (hopefully) wont understand it haha.

      Cheers
