Best way to run a referral through eCommerce website

Hi everyone!

New to the forum. But I am trying to find the best way possible to run a referral type of program for my website. I was thinking something similar to UBER where both parties are rewarded and without being so spammy.

I would possibly like to have this sent out with followup emails on purchased orders.

Sorry I need to actually change/add to my question. I want to know the BEST way to run a referral. As in what is the most effective way to get my customers to refer others to my site. I do like the 'UpViral' strategy. But I just want to know from everyone's experiences of what way has the best results. Thank you!

  • Try a platform like upviral

    It also depends on what you offer, your store's software etc

    Are you using shopify / wordpress or others?

    There are various affiliate programs you can employ on your website where people who refer others to your website get a commission. Of course, this works best with people who have websites/blogs of their own.

    OmniStar is one such affiliate program that works with pretty much any website software. Then, there are other programs like ShareASale that might work for you.

    Put an option on the sales confirmation page for buyers to share what they've bought for a future discount (ex: 10% discount).
    • Email friends option
    • Social share option

    This way the buyer might buy something else in the future and you also get the extra free advertising.

    Don't allow any sharing until after you've sold an item, this way you don't distract the buyer before they've had a chance to actually buy something.

    I use amazon affiliate, associate and woocommerce is very easy to get a big benefit!
