Building an e-Commerce/Blog type of template from scratch for fiancee'

Hi Warrior family,

I'm a decent coder (both web development & desktop applications) in which that I plan on building my fiancee a website that is half e-Commerce/Blog so that she can sell products that she will drop ship and link out as an affiliate to earn commissions per sale.

My question is if anyone has any experience with a website that has both PayPal "Buy Now" buttons combined with Affiliate buttons (to also help sell products as an affiliate) to monetize their website.

It can be like an eCommerce website when selling direct products through PayPal, but also have a blog-like platform to review affiliate products. I don't see why this would be a bad idea, but I'm open for opinions or to those who may have (or still are) using such a template.

Would appreciate the ideas, thanks! :-)

There's really no need to build such a thing from scratch. You can use WordPress along with WooCommerce to accomplish all of that and because you have some coding skills, you can further customize the look and functionality if you like.

WooCommerce will allow you to have some products that have buttons that add things to your cart and are paid through a normal payment processor (PayPal, Authorize.Net, Stripe, whatever ...) and other products that utilize an affiliate button, which directs people to another website to buy things.

And, of course, WordPress, itself, is really a blogging platform, so its already set up as a blog. The free WooCommerce plugin just allows you to add eCommerce functionality to it.

Sure seems like the ideal solution for what you are trying to do.
