Hello,

I've created a tool to help finding the best selling*products from over 100,000 Shopify stores. You can also filter products by high traffic and sort products by Site Rank.*I hope it will help you find your winning product ideas.

shopify.makerhai.com

I'd like to share it for free, so please give me feedbacks on it's features.

Thank you and regard,

MakerHai

Wow, I have no idea how you are able to access the password-protected admin panels of Shopify websites to see exactly what/how much they are selling. Pretty amazing feat!

      Hi Dave,

Thank you for your compliment. FYI, I didn't do anything illegally like cracking password, etc. I just scraped the public Shopify store websites and analyze their data. It was a hard-work for me. I also need to keep the servers run constantly to update the data that costs me quite a few bucks. However, I felt this is a useful tool so I'll keep doing that.

Please let me know if you want me to improve anything about the current features or any additional information that you want to see in order to have more insight about your product researches.

      Regards,
      MakerHai

How can you scrape any public website (i.e. front end) and see exactly how much has been sold of anything? Sure, you can find how many sites are trying to sell something but actual sales? You'd have to have access to the back end of websites to do that.

No, Shopify has an API to get the stock information and I just use that.

The stock information from where? Shopify cannot possibly have an API that allows you to access the inventory levels of everyone's website. Even if they did, many websites don't track inventory at all.

It's certainly not the most reliable indicator for what has actually sold. We place all of our products at 9999 stock and take them to zero instantly when the supplier sells out. We're dropshipping, so there is no way to tell the inventory of the supplier until suddenly they are out of stock.

Your program would make it look like we sold 9999 of each product when we took them instantly to zero but we might have only really sold 3 when the supplier ran out of stock. Of course, we do not display inventory on our sites so again, I have to ask how you could ever know what even our fake stock levels are without accessing the back end of the website.

Sorry, but it just makes no sense. The only way your app could work is if people knowingly installed it on their Shopify websites and even then, it would only have the very limited data from the few places that did (and again, as explained above, that data may not be remotely accurate as to real inventory levels). Who in their right mind would install an app that allows people to spy on their inventory and sell that information to other people? Unless, of course, you are presenting the app as something entirely different that people are installing (a free newsletter app, for instance) but then selling the information it obtains through permissions as something else to others.

Sorry Dave that I cannot share more about my secret methods of how I implemented it. It's quite complicated and required my 11 years experience of software development to manage such a huge amount of data. But I can confirm you that Shopify system has a very high security level that no one could hack them so far, AFAIK. I used only their public API and websites. About the quality of the tool, please let me know if you find it's not accurate then I'll improve it. Thanks.

  • Wow, amazing work man. How often will it be updated?

I try to update it once per week. However due to the large amount of products and low budget on my end it could be delay to two weeks. Please let me know if you have any feedbacks. Thanks.

        - Please check your email Spam folder to see if the confirmation email is there.
        - For resending the confirmation email, I will add this feature in soon. Thanks for your suggestion :-)
        - Also, your email address could be filled in not correctly. If that's the case, just try to create another account.

The OP has had the opportunity to gather some feedback (and, presumably, email addresses) from members, but this discussion area isn't the appropriate place to build a subscriber list. If more feedback is required, it should now be via a thread in the classifieds, or a link in the OP's sig file.
