Best Shopify theme for a site selling merch from 3rd party vendors (Etsy model)?

To begin I will mention that I am new to ecommerse and Shopify. I am looking for a theme that would fit my business model but I can't seem to find one that would work without some slight modification.

The site will be built somewhat like Etsy with third-party vendors and their products. It will be much less inventory and focused on one very niche item.

The site would ideally start with a clean large header photo, followed by a 'deal of the day' product and then a 'featured vendors' section where a user can view vendors and their products. The site would charge a commision on the sale of a vendors products.

Any direction would be greatly appreciated!

not sure if you want to resell products from vendors on your own store or want to work as an affiliate promoting their product

I don't see what the problem is. Pretty much ALL Shopify themes will do what you say you need. We use the Minimal theme for almost all of our websites and customize the look of them to suit the niche.

Don't go with the Shopify themes listed in their marketplace. They're very expensive and most of them looks like crap.

Check themesforest for better options and way much cheaper.

To name some, check woodmart, although it's name doesn't sound like what you need, but they have multiple layouts. It's easy to use.
