Can You Resell Software Without Purchasing In Bulk

Hello everyone,

I have just joined the forum and love the community that is here! Everyone seems to be engaging and helpful!

I am looking to resell software (that has serial numbers to activate) but do not have the budget to purchase a catalogue of software in bulk at wholesale prices from software companies to resell on my online store.

Is there any other way to have the money from the purchase on my online store be split and have a serial number be sent to the customer without me having to input an already purchased serial number from the company?

I would like this system to be automated if possible.

I am planning on using the magento platfrom and I know there are extensions to split payments between sellers, but I am a little confused on how the delivering of the serial would go if I didn't buy them from the software manufacturer.

Buying products in bulk at wholesale price seems to be the common way of reselling software yes?

Again, just wondering if there was some type of software or something to send out a serial number once it is purchased without me purchasing serial numbers from companies and inputting them into my site.

If you have any solutions for this, I would be greatly appreciated.

    You really need to contact the companies that you are going to purchase the software from and see if they have a solution for you. If they are physical discs, it would involve dropshipping. If it is just downloads, that should be far easier to work out.

      Yeah I figured that I would just have to contact the developers to see.
      The selling of software would just be digital, not physical discs.
      So it seem like there must be a way to have serial numbers be sent out automatically without having to input a bunch of serial numbers then?
      There must be some other way to send out the serials once a customer pays for the product then?
      As mentioned, I don't have the budget to fill an online store with products if I had to purchase the software from the companies first.

        I always find it a bit amazing when people are already worried about all of the "extra work" they are going have to do for the thousands of orders they hope they will be getting. In a worst-case scenario where you had to manually send the customer the serial number, how long do you think it will take to do a copy/paste of a serial number? If it gets to be too big of a hassle to spend 15 seconds per order doing that, you can hire a VA to do it for you.

        Believe me, you are gong to spend thousands of times more time trying to get orders than a few seconds copying and pasting a serial number when/if you ever do get orders. THAT is what you should be worried about!
