Are your prices competitive? Are you using the best offer feature?

In addition to prices, does your site seem trustworthy? What have you done to build trust with people visiting your site? Also, how does your shipping compare to other sites selling the same thing?

And, of course, have you told them why they should buy from YOU instead of the likely many other places selling the same things?

He's selling on Ebay - not via a site.

If you can't appeal to the 'end user' with reasonable overall prices, maye consider appealling to store holders (website / bricks and mortar) and create bulk packages of different products?

Sorry, I shouldn't have used the word "site". All of those things still apply, however, whether you have set up an eBay store or just individual listings.

Gamers are very particular with what they buy. That industry has come a long way in the last few years. Are your products brand name and high quality that gamers demand?

I think we would need a lot more information to be able to provide you with better recommendations. You're selling on ebay someone said?

How's your copywriting? Photos of product? Pricing compared to other sources? Shipping time? How long are the auctions? Are people bidding and not meeting the reserve? Selling individual products or do you have an ebay store?

If someone can get the same product on Amazon for $1 cheaper (or even the same price) and have it in their hands in 2 days or less, that could be the reason you're not seeing any sales.

Selling a quality brand at the manufacturer suggested retail price. Amazon is selling lower but if I match Amazon pricing there will be no profit because I will be selling at the wholesale price I bought the items at. Selling them as list till you sell no auction. Shipping is USPS fast paid by the eBay buyer. The pictures I am using come straight from the manufacturers website so they are professional photos and I also took a few photos of the boxed items to show they are brand new and unopened. I do not have an ebay store just selling these items. Should I just sell the items at wholesale costs to cut my loses and move on to a different brand or niche of products?

The fact that Amazon can sell it for what you think is the wholesale price tells me that you aren't getting anywhere close to real wholesale pricing from wherever you are buying these products. They are probably getting them directly from the manufacturer (or dropshipping it from the manufacturer). That's where you need to start. See if the manufacturer will dropship for you and if they won't, ask them who their major buyers/distributors are, who often WILL dropship. Or, see if they will sell in small bulk and give you real wholesale prices.

And, I have to ask ... is it actually Amazon who is selling them or another business on the Amazon marketplace? They have to kick back 15% to Amazon so if it is listed on Amazon but actually sold by another company, you are definitely paying far too much.

Amazon is selling it directly with Prime at $139.99 and then there are third party sellers selling for $137.99.

What is the general acceptable wholesale discount? What percentage off of retail would be considered optimal? I am currently working with Synnex but their prices are not very competitive. Where else can I find a major US distributor.

There is no such thing as a "general acceptable wholesale discount" other than it needs to be enough for you to make money and be competitive.

It is absolutely clear from your response that both Amazon and their third party sellers are getting much better wholesale pricing than you are. So, the answer starts with getting better suppliers.

As I suspected, you are using one of the many scam "wholesale dropship" services out there. They are a middleman and are getting a cut of the real wholesale price. You are only going to get true wholesale pricing by contacting the actual brands and seeing if they will dropship for you. If they won't (and if you then ask them), they will almost always tell you who their major buyers/distributors are and those places often do dropship - at MUCH better wholesale prices than you will ever get from one of these bogus wholesale dropship services/directories.

Incidentally, DO NOT just send the brand an email. They will surely blow you off, You need to man up and make an actual phone call.

Were I you I would do just that. An ebay store won't help you if your prices are not competitive and its hard to beat Amazon. Beyond that I don't really know what to tell you except maybe find new products for which you can offer competitive pricing.

Do what Oziboomer said visit Savidges thread in the Path Section of the forum. Pay attention and read the part about downloading the app on your phone. Type your product in the search bar. Than use the filter to see what they sell for. Than you know if your price is within range of what people are actually paying. He explains it in detail, and than also price about price and sales again today.

If Amazon is selling the same items at a lower price, I will buy from Amazon every time. Fast shipping, usually free shipping, returns are stupid easy with Amazon. Selling higher on ebay is not a good plan.

It depends on what wholesale price you can get and what retail price things can be sold for but I'll give you an example of one product I buy.

There is a wholesaler her in Oz that sells a specific type of blade that is used in a variety of machines.

They wholesale this blade at $330 + 10% GST.

I've never looked at the retail price of these but I would expect at least double. This would be something that does not generally get sold online however but would get sold through a network of physical resellers and service technicians.

Now we go through a few of these and so I went looking for the manufacturer.

The same blade I get direct from them at a cost of $32.10.

I've looked at other products a few of the wholesalers are selling and in many cases they are selling products at 5 times or more the manufacturer's selling price.

Walter - importexport has been looking around this thread has an excellent guide on buying directly from manufacturers. I'm sure he can weigh in with some experience around what margins various people add to the supply chain.

      Best regards,

      Ozi

the most important thing you should consider when selling on ebay,is to try to be different and stand out from your competitors.one needs to sell high quality products and you need to invest a lot in getting your brand out of the masses.you need to build a good relationship between your suppliers and customers.

Answer: I was selling an old computer on ebay. I was a laptop. I did two things that got it to sell. #1 - I told the person what I used the laptop for. I said I was a programmer and that I used it to write scripts and the software which is free is on the computer, The scripts were vb script. The second thing that I did, which I thought would not make a bit of difference was I included a report that I wrote myself. I think it was something about making money and etc. My laptop was setup for bidding, not fix price. I was shocked at the people bidding on my old computer, but I ask myself. Did they want the computer or did they want the report. Maybe they were interested in buying my machine, one thing that I did notice. No one selling my machine listed their product like how I listed it. From that experience, I figure why not write a simple report about "something attractive" add it to your listing for the headset. Tell them you wrote the report yourself and that there is nothing like this being sold by your competitors. I have also see this done with digital products on ebay, which is why I am researching pain points here. There are just a few smart cookies on ebay selling PLR product on ebay, but they are must smarter than what you see. I have figured out the DD (digital download) business and will generate a report on the matter. Its interesting, that no one has taken what marketers do all the time which is BONUS what they are selling, but not apply that thought to physical products.
