Increasing Traffic to my Shopify store

So most I've had on a daily basis is maybe 30 views/sessions, I use shopify and I sell a variety of items, not necessarily a niche store. I was using it to test different niches and start stores out of that. I have only had maybe a few orders and hard time getting traffic.

I use facebook and google ads (at a bare minimum), pinged my website, tried to generate backlinks for it and even share every product I can on about 6 social media platforms for social media bookmarking.

I've used Instagram (on two accounts) and have a twitter and facebook page. So is there anything I could do to help increase views than I could worry about conversion and making more sales.

I would try instagram influencers, there are a ton platforms you can use to find them. Revfluence, Grapevine Logic and Neoreach are a couple.

Content marketing will probably gonna help you a lot to generate organic traffic, along with focus on paid advertising on Facebook, it really gonna benefit you a lot.

Influencer is also a good option, although if you want good amount traffic coming in through influencer, then you need to find out some good influencers who had good amount of audience, although it could be more pricer to do so, keep that in mind.

I have one simple golden advise to anyone trying to build ecommerce business like Shopify: Never send cold traffic directly to your product. It does not work that and you will waste money. Find a way to warm up your traffic first. Build audience first! Then send traffic the traffic to your Shopify products later.

#1. Use SEO to increase your site's visibility
#2. Build customer engagement through content marketing
#3. Reach your target audience on social media
#4. Use influencers to get more traffic
If your site traffic is in the doldrums, ignore sales for now. Focus on building brand awareness and customers will come

There are three digital marketing campaigns that provide the best results for an E-commerce store

    a) Influencers Marketing

    b) Email Marketing

    c) Facebook PPC campaign

Do not pitch or promote your products in blog comments, forums, etc. It will diminish your brand value.

  • It's never been easier for e-commerce entrepreneurs to set up an online store.
Platforms such as Shopify offer everything a new seller needs to get their business up and running in minutes, without the need for serious web design or coding skills.

But if you build it, will they come? Probably not--unless you're working to build brand awareness, your business is as good as invisible. There are a lot of eCommerce experts suggests best strategies can help you to increase the traffic.

Check for your product related niche on Reddit. There would definitely be people willing to buy.

Maybe even try Youtube commenting on specific niche related videos. Like comment on 10-20 or even 30 videos the minute they come out.

There are alot of areas i can tell you to try as most have already suggested here but that will be trial and error and in that case you may loose some money before you pick up and i dont know your budget. Generating traffic and making sales to give you profit are 2 different things though one leads to the other but you need skills in these 2 areas. Do not try so many platforms but choose one and learn alot and make it work before trying the another platform

    Hello, Jared.
I've got these tips that may help you. Some of them can be obvious, but still...:
    1. Competitive analysis. Compare what you do and what your close competitors do, what are their marketing and ad strategy. What about their site?
    2. Speaking of the site, it should have:
    * great website navigation, and search options.
    * be fast, perform well.
    * have a modern design and high-quality images.
    * be mobile-friendly (must-have!).
    * security is highly important, especially for newcomers in e-commerce.
    * you can ask marketers for help in order to build the right marketing strategy. If you can't do it now,- watch your competitors.
    * ask your friends, relatives, other people about your site. They can share awesome ideas.
    * write a blog sharing relevant information with your customers.
    * selling on social media, use hashtags, advertising.
    Good luck with your business)

As long as Facebook Ads are concerned. you can try out with website traffic campaigns and keep on promoting your latest content on your page through Ads manager. Try out some contest to increase your follower base. Start some kind of loyalty programs like giving free vouchers/coupons for filling out the details on Lead Generation Facebook Campaigns.

Nowadays other e-commerce tools like Magento are also in trend. You can try out with Magento e-commerce website design as well (Web development companies can give you more insight on this.)

Guest posting is a good way of promotion. You can begin by visiting your favorite blogs within your niche to see if they accept guest contributors. If they do, reach out and ask if you can write a guest blog post.
Use influencer marketing on social media to increase brand awarness. Popular influencers could not only promote your shop but also give you many sales if you find right person in your niche.
Reach your target audience on social media. Create attractive page and post regularly. You'd better use one or two pages, e.g. Instagram and Facebook, instead of creating multiple pages with zero activity.

    Hey!
I've used a contest/coupon approach to generate 800 leads in like 2 weeks before.

It's so easy to do, and the only "cost" involved is the item (if you wanna try a contest), or the value of the coupon.

I know it might sound funny, but you can literally do this once, then have a nice-sized list for the future...

Let me know if you wanna discuss further.

    Cheers

It would be better for you focusing more on brand awareness and product marketing at this moment rather than pushing sales. Sale is a slow process. It will happen soon, but not very soon in all cases. Once you achieved a better position among your competitors via any organic or promotional methods, it would remain there for long. So, better focus on marketing since you have very less traffic in your store, Some of the marketing methods you can follow are below, this will help you to increase your site traffic.

    SEO
    Blogging (Guest blogging/Own blogging)
Join in E-commerce customer forums and do content marketing.
    Find influencers and approach.
Affiliate partnerships, there are many affiliate apps in the Shopify app store.
Engage customers regularly by sending out email newsletters
Consider ad campaigns in Social media
PPC is also another good option, yet expensive.

You mentioned you use Google and Facebook ads. Obviously they're not doing much for you which I understand must be rather frustrating.

Along with some of the other useful advice on this thread you may want to re-address your use of Fb and Google ads. I primarily suggest this because there are many shopify sellers who do very well with those types of ads.

One problem may be that the Shopify site they are sent to is NOT a niched site, For example -perhaps the ad is for golf shoes, and an avid golfer sees the ad, clicks thru and sees the golf shoes but not other golf related items. He may see ping pong paddles, chandeliers, coffee mugs, ect - lots of other non-related stuff that he is not interested in. This would be a turn off IMO. The avid golfer is much more likely to spend time on an authoritative golf site with lots of golf related products and golf content and much more likely to find something to purchase.

Just something to think about to perhaps adjust you business model.

    Hey,
It's very common for in the beginning stages of your eCommerce store that you are probably not going to see the results that you would want to see out of your store. Experiencing this is completely normally and all apart of the process of building a successful store.

Here are some things you should try to generate more traffic to your store:

    1. Figure out exactly who your audience is so that you are targeting the right people. Sometimes when you are running ads, depending on who you are putting your product in front of has a lot to do with the traffic that you are getting.. you want to make sure that the right people are seeing your product

    2. Take a step back and look at the content that you are using when running ads. Marketing is key when running ads and is just as important as the audience you are targeting. You're audience and the content you are creating for your ads are suppose to 'complete' each other.

    3. Reach out to influencers

    4. Send out emails. Having automated email funnels are very important because not all of the time people are going to buy a product the first time they see it.. you always want to be able to follow up with that potential buyer to close that sale.

    Hope this helped you!

    Write this down "Maximize Effort"

Now go back and read your original post. I sell a variety of items.. I am doing SEO on my store, and I am on IG ( 2 accounts ) and twitter and facebook.. and then you are asking "what can I do?"

    Maximize your effort.

Start with this... stop all of you efforts with SEO for your Shopify Store. You are trying to send traffic to a testing ground ( basically your words. ) when you really need to be sending traffic to a specific item. The "Store" becomes the part of a machine that takes money... that is all it is there to do, take money.

So now we have IG's 2 accounts twitter and facebook. what do these pieces need to be doing? They need to be feeding the part of the machine that takes money. These pieces then become the traffic development aspect of your machine.

We now have 2 well defined pieces of a machine. One that develops traffic and one that takes money.

The only piece that is missing at this point is "WHAT". what are you selling that you need to develop traffic for so people will buy it?

Right now... your efforts are attempting to sell a collection of non related items in a store. What happens if you take an Instagram account and turn it into an IG account about kitchen items? so food photos and spatulas and frying pans, and an IG video of you cooking and this is just an example. Then the other IG account could be something else totally different... OR in the same vertical but changed up a bit.

So if we are maximizing effort... would it not stand to reason that your twitter and your facebook should match one of the IG efforts?

Focus your What... present content on a item specific basis surrounded by the broader scope of the item. another example. you are selling soap... a video on how to wash your hands.. and you are also selling soap dishes and toothbrush holders and towels.

You have then maximized your effort. People are interested in soap.. they click your link from a traffic source to a specific page on your money taker that sells THAT exact soap.

OR you can keep doing what you are doing and basically saying "HEY - I Sell random stuff come buy something - anything - really please don't walk away... Momma needs a new pair of shoes - oh forget it, I didn't want your money anyways. ( overly dramatic, but you get the point )

    Maximize your effort.

    Hope that Helps!

What is your ad strategy? Are you showing ads one time, hoping someone will visit and buy or do you have a retargeting strategy to show a visitor a second ad? I hope you are retargeting with a coupon or offer like 10% off. If not, look into how to do that. You can start with a Google ad, then show that coupon on Instagram but, you have to have proper tracking pixels installed.

Depending on your niche, I would probably recommend content marketing.
I.E. Start writing some content around your niche to show your expertise.
It may take some time for these efforts to show a positive result, however, if you keep writing an article or two a week, over time, they will pay dividends.

I've run up against a similar issue in the past and used most of the methods discussed here. I have been using a new campaign method that involves the combination of video hosting, social media, and temporary boosters where I buy targeted traffic at the start from sources like webtrafficgeeks, fiverr, and the like. Results have been mixed but steadily improving. Anybody else got something like this they are doing?
