About sending a product video to your customers

I am selling jewelry and diamonds online.

I have been thinking of increasing customer retention and coming up with a better marketing strategy. I recently thought of sending a short product video to my customers before they receive the product. I can record the video using my phone, showing customers detailed views of the product they bought. How do you think of sending a short product video to your customers?

    Just curious, but why do you think this will help with marketing and retention? My thoughts are that your customer has already bought the product, so it's doing nothing on the marketing side. As for retention, I doubt that sending the video would do anything to make them want to come back and buy again either. I'm not saying that it's a bad idea, as for the customer service side of things maybe it would stand out a little but I don't think it's really all that useful to be honest with you. I could be wrong, but the only way I could see this being a benefit would be if the video were posted on the product page so that the customer can see the detailed views BEFORE they buy.

    Seems to me like that should already be on the site and that it would help increase conversions. It's not going to do anything for marketing or customer retention after the fact.

    A survey about the product and your service after they received it would do more to instill confidence and loyalty than your proposed video because it shows that you care. If I was going to send them a video, it would probably be more in line with "how to care for your [prodcut]".

    Do feel like you are pursuing the main reason of marketing with your technique?

    If yes, then why are showing me the detail of the same product that I bought right after I bought? lol
