Out of Stock Problem on eBay dropshipping

I've been dropshipping for about 4 years now, most of the time with very few problems.
But lately I've been getting a lot of out of stock items from my dropshipping source.

I don't use any automated software programs so after I list all my 200 items for sale,
it's impossible for me to know when my dropshipping source goes out of stock. When they go out of
stock, it usually means every other vendor goes out of stock, too (meaning the manufacturer must
be in production and nobody else has it in stock). So what ends up happening is a lot of people
start looking for the product because it's out of stock everywhere and then they find my ebay listing
and buys it. Then when I go to order it from my dropshipping source, they have it out of stock and
everywhere else, too so I'm stuck with either waiting a few days hoping it comes back in stock
and can proceed to place the order OR I have to contact my buyer and apologize and say it's
on back order and ask if they'd like to either wait a few more days or cancel the order and receive
a refund.

I've heard of some software that can automatically remove my ebay listing or make it out of stock if my dropshipping source suddenly has it out of stock too. But I don't know.

There seem to be quite a few software automation tools that can help as well

David - I would be interested to know if sales are declining for items that are in stock. I ask as several friends have said they are avoiding drop shippers as they do not want to buy items from China now.

Most of them didn't care where their order was shipped from as long as they got what they paid for within a reasonable period of time. Now they don't want to support any business in China....I wonder if they are an anomaly or if this will be turning point for drop shippers - at least for a while.

Due to the current pandemic I will no longer be shaking hands or giving hugs. You may wave, bow to me or give me the finger...your choice.

I think we have hit a "Turning Point". The issue with people that "Dropship" from eBay ( and it is against eBay TOS ) is that they are saying it ships from wherever in the states and then then after you order you figure out the order is coming from China. EVERYTIME I order something and this happens I report the user to eBay.

There is without question the anti China thing going on... I have actually been entering into some of the China controlled market spaces and doing well being a USA seller - at a considerably higher price point. BUT selling the exact same product obviously made in China.. so its kind of amusing really.

There is a forgotten / unknown that is about to raise its little head here come June 1 and that is the 1st of 4 increases in postage from China to the States. I will call it now... people that dropship ( other than a select few ) have no idea about the postage increase and will take an instant hit and not understand it... The first week of June should be amusing ( from my prospective LOL )

Just to add to the fun:

The main takeaway is that production, shipping, and fulfillment from China will be majorly affected due to strict anti-coronavirus measures being put in place.

And, now that Chinese manufacturing is starting up again and there's a growing demand for air freight, rates have spiked up to 27%.

I always thought to sell people cheap Chinese junk was a really bad idea.
