Hello
I am doing 3D printing, and selling my 3D printed models (and other design stuff, like handmade money trees, and other stuff)
I want to create an e-commerce (online shop) that would also offer 3D printing services
What platform is best suited for my needs, and is easy to open and install?
I have never opened an online store before.

If you've never built an eCommerce website, Shopify is undoubtedly the easiest to work with.

If you dont know coding, shopify is the best choice.
You can do it yourself, also the platform has seo advantage.

    Hey skydragon89,
For e-commerce I would suggest you two e-commerce platforms: shopify and woocommerce. If you never used WordPress before then I would suggest you to check shopify ( paid monthly, price based on package ), but if you worked on WordPress then I would suggest you WooCommerce ( free but there are "hidden costs" ).

If you've never opened an online store before, I'd recommend Shopify, it has a monthly fee for web hosting and very easy to use. They also make it easy add products, social marketing and apps.

Shopify is user-friendly and honestly one of the easiest platforms to use. It shows you everything you need, all the stats and settings.

On the other hand, you could use WooCommerce but it's a little bit more complex but you have more features, you can customize everything while with Shopify you're kind of limited.

I am not a big fan of Shopify but for beginners It is quote good. Or better go with Woocommerce. Woocoomerce provides more flexibility for customization and you can own the code. Maintenance cost of Woocommerce is low as well.
For the purpose of SEO as well, I feel that Woocommerce responds well than Shopify though it is generally accepted that platform does not make any difference to SEO.

I 'm a beginner with no previous knowledge at wordpress or shopify. After watching several you tube videos and reading several articles, I made my first online store with wordpress-woocommerce. Lower maintenance costs and user friendly. It is worth the try.

If you are beginner in eCommerce platform and want to build-up your online store then I would recommend Shopify. Shopify is one of the leaders in the e-commerce space, and perhaps the easiest-to-use tool to build your online store with. Their mission is to build a hassle-free platform for setting up your e-commerce business. You can organize your products, customize the way your store looks, accept payments (online and credit cards), track and respond to orders, and you can do it all within Shopify's interface.

Im going to buck the system a bit here... no previous ecommerce experience? I would START with platforms like eBay and etsy.

The reason I say this is both of these platforms by default have traffic built into them. you could literally make a sale on day 1. your own website ( as much as I suggest doing this in YOUR case ) is not going to do that for you. Christmas is right around the corner, and on both of these platforms you could have a fair amount of product listed by this Sunday.

I have a thread here: https://www.warriorforum.com/warrior...days-ebay.html that will help you with some of the eBay basics. Instead of buying the product you are selling, you will be making it.

The flipside of this is your site. Doing the above will give you the buffer to make this process less stressful for you. In YOUR case specifically, because you want to do custom work this option does make sense. BUT, take that out, and Im not sure I would bother.

I would look at Shopify and WooCommerce, i personally would lean towards woocommerce a bit based on the fact you want to sell custom designs and the ability to create a communication channel back and forth with a potential client would be easier. ( forms 7 plugin as an example )

Hope that Helps and best of luck!

I work as a makeup artist, and quite often I order cosmetics from abroad, since in the USA or Korea it is much better, and it's cheaper to order than to buy in an ordinary store. To pay for goods, I always use only the WordPress https://en-gb.wordpress.org/plugins/...yment-gateway/ service I personally verified, I have been using it for more than one year and am very pleased.

My favorite one is Magento commerce. By allowing 3rd party integrations, Magento gives an online store bigger space for custom integrations. This is one of the most crucial benefits of Magento eCommerce platform that makes it the best choice. As previously mentioned, every online store has something different to offer. Magento allows every store to be customized to its own preferences. Can also add that Mechanicweb is a nice place for getting magento commerce hosting services. Personally I am quite happy running my e-shop with them.

using Shopify for my current eCommerce store however we have outgrown shopify and looking to move to bigcommerce. Shopify is good but you will be bogged down in app subscriptions that you will pay a monthly subscription fee, bigcommerce out of the box has everything you need and wont require to much mucking around.

For these particular products I'd take a long look at Etsy to get started. It's the fastest and easiest way to get started and you can always set up your own shop at any time using the same images, etc.

One big thing with Etsy is your products must be relevant to search keywords. Having a good product is one thing, but people need to find it using keywords.

A good basic marketing strategy on Etsy is to offer customized products. You can charge more for them, it's a pretty good secondary keyword and every customer gets a one-of-a-kind product they helped create.

The best is free. How many ecommerce services can you get for free. Planking out dollars will up the stakes and increase biz failure.
