After I got a verification Zoom meeting to set up my very first Amazon account (I enjoyed it, by the way) I was given a PDF, "The beginner's guide to Selling on Amazon" which states that "In most cases, products must have a Global Trade Item Number (GTIN), such as a UPC, an ISBN, or an EAN." Well, this is probably the first time in my life that I have ever tried selling something I have actually made. I have no idea what is involved in the process. I am just learning How do I get a number and which one should I get?

Amazon has quite a bit of help on 'seller central' - including links to get personalized help for trade item id's. Have you accessed that yet?

Usually, GTINs are only needed for products that already have them - things that sit on shelves in retail stores. Because your products don't, you can apply for a GTIN exemption.
