What are the hottest type of items to sell this Holiday 2021, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Christmas, Etc. What should you be stocking up on to sell on Ebay, Amazon, Mercari, Craigslist and Offerup? Where are you buying stock from? Which Toys, Electronics and Video Games will sell out fast for the holidays? Any Specific Brand Recommendations that people are going crazy for?

If you are selling THIS season - you should be stocked up by now. I think this year what you can sell may depend on what you are able to source. Supply chain problems seem to be real and global.

Even bike components are hard to come by. Prices have unreasonably skyrocketed even as demand started to normalise. For some reason manufacturers simply can't increase production or something.

In the Commerce space, the Christmas / Winter holiday "season" technically starts August 15th. As crazy as that sounds... You will see Christmas creeping into major retailors about that time every year.

I personally purchase / import many of my holiday items starting in March. This year that has been a huge payoff. There are actually a few shipments that I have yet to get but should be arriving in the next week or so.

Over the past few years I have kind of looked at demand and trends to buy bulk of 1 major item every year. A few years ago it was Drones - before all of the restrictions were put in place. This year it is electric scooters. The ones I got do 21mph and are a serious blast to ride. I imported 4000 of them. I got them in about 2 weeks ago ( and I ordered them in May ) and am on target to have sold 1000 of them by the end of the week.

At this point to start thinking what you should buy and how to source them is playing catch up, and with the current import craziness, its going to be a struggle I think.

The retail arbitrage side of me is going to suggest getting your hands on as many Xbox One X's you can get your hands on. I have been trying to get one at regular retail for my son for Christmas since they came out and have yet to succeed. I dont think he will mind much if he doesn't get one, but it is going to be a bit of a let down for me, if I dont.

I got myself an RTX card earlier this year.

I didn't want to go through a scalper or second hand. It was a complete pita tracking one down and I still paid over MSRP.

IMO, the great GPU shortage of 2020 is gonna last for a while.Anything with a graphics card in it is hot stuff.

That's because the crypto miners are buying graphics cards like crazy. Consumer level miner PCs often have 4 or 5 graphics cards in them (at around $2,000+ a pop).

With the massive supply shortages already bad and anticipated to get worse, the hot items this year will be practically anything that is in stock and that ships immediately.

Although he had excellent foresight in ordering well ahead of time, I have a funny feeling that savidge4 is going to find himself sold out far ahead of December.

I've seen it time and time again this whole year with shortages because demand is far exceeding the numbers that retailers and even manufacturers anticipated - mostly due to other retailers and manufacturers making the same miscalculations and due to extremely slow transport times. We have some manufacturers that are selling 5 times more of their products than any other year simply because all of their competitors are out of stock.

A number of items sell well during this time of Year . Toys and Games are always popular at this time . It is important that you should have secured your stock by now . One might still get stock to be delivered before Xmas , but you would be pushing it very fine .

Great thread here. Does anyone know if our national or perhaps global chip shortage shows any signs of improving? Everything from cars to toys to smartphones seems to be impacted and contributing to the global shipping delays. Just curious is any e-commerce entrepreneurs here are seeing any signs of improvement going into Holiday Season?

Nope... In the case of Ford specifically they are short because Their facility in Japan half burned down... as for the rest of the market??? I would suggest the whole thing is a man made shortage. Where are the greatest percentage of chips made? Who would have an interest in decreasing an American Economy? How exactly does a plant burning 1/2 down in Japan have to do with production around the rest of the world?

Its NOT going to improve until facilities are moved / relocated to countries with less ambitious political objectives. Unfortunately they will never be coming to the States due to the ridiculous amount of EPA regulation and green this that and the other. 1700 Degree Celsius ( 3092 Degrees Fahrenheit ) furnaces are not so energy friendly.

To put the production of Silicone into perspective, The furnaces for steel operate at about 1600 C or 2900 F so basically its more fuel efficient to be producing steel. The needs for Aluminum are 660C and 1190F

I can pretty safely say that not in our lifetimes will we ever see a Solar Panel 100% made in the States. The chip market is not going to be moving here any time soon . We can BUY the products that destroy the environment all day long... we just cant make them here - its such BS.

I just read a pretty decent white paper the other day that suggests the centralization of greenhouse emissions is probably the #1 cause for global warming at an accelerated rate. meaning Sending all of these activities to China has created an emissions hotspot read this from May ( https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-57018837 ) More emissions than the rest of the world COMBINED... but hey its not happening in my backyard. and BTWI am all for, and USE alternative power... just using the phrase to be ironic.
