Selling without Paypal

There are nonPayPal options like Stripe, right?

I don't think anyone can predict if it will affect sales - sometimes you just have to test it to find out.

Rightly or wrongly, many consumers use PayPal because they trust that PayPal will have their back in the event of a dispute.

Back in the day when all I did was flip websites, the very first thing I looked for was a website that only offered PayPal for payment and did not have a regular credit card processor.

When a site only had PayPal and did NOT have a regular credit card processor, I found that just by adding one, I could increase sales by at least 50% - sometimes much more.

I don't recall purchasing any sites that did not offer PayPal, but based on stats from the more than 100 websites I've owned over the years, I can tell you that people choose to pay with PayPal 10-20% of the time - even when there is a regular payment processor, all depending on the type of site. I don't know for sure how many would not have purchased at all if there wasn't a PayPal option but I imagine it would be a significant percentage of them.

I have to wonder why you don't want to offer PayPal in addition to using a standard credit card processor.

I personally haven't herd of anyone using solely credit cards as a payout option on their PayPal but I could only imagine this might effect your sales due to the fact that buyers like to see many payout options it puts their mind at ease and gives them reassurance that their dealing with a legit shop

Guess that people unwillingly agree to pay without paypal or other famous payments platforms. Mainly because they don't trust credit cards, they think that it's insecure and you can be considered as a scammer. Of course, it's not like that but the thinking of clients can't be changed. Nowadays there are plenty of scammers who sell their courses and people sell them money on credit or debit card and they don't offer these clients any courses. I believe it's the main reason why people don't trust credit/debit cards. So, I guess if you sell something then you would better stay with paypal.

If you are selling products or services internationally then PAYPAL is must because people believe on this payment gateway more than othe.

If you are selling nationally than you can find many other gateways like PAYUMONEY, PAYTM for India.

CCAVENUE is also good one, you can use for international payment.

yep i like paying with paypal because I can cancel anything usually. That is bad for sellers so yeah.
I see lots of people only using credit cards and off kind of account even like skrill and cash app.

Been on here forever I will be honest if someone wants it they'll pay your way. if you can convert on what you are selling it really does not matter.

Amazon does not take paypal and last I heard they are doing OK

True - but they have their own payment option, too.

Neither does eBay now (for sellers). But those platforms have built up years of trust. It's a little different for Joe Bloggs selling his digital course and just asking for your credit card details.


Me too. Guess we'll have to go on wondering as the OP hasn't returned to this thread since November last year.

In all Honesty.. in this day and age.. if someone doesn't have Papal option on their website/selling option. It does make one feel a little bit out of place which of course affects the seller. As a buyer if i don't see PayPal option, there's a very less chance of me actually proceeding to buying. Sure i can use my debit or credit but if something goes wrong i don't want to have to deal with them. PayPal is easier to deal with so I would suggest Stripe like someone mentioned earlier.

Stripe is a good option.. i used to use payoneer but they are not that good

Paypal is there for buyers as well as Stripe. Crypto should be our future

I have had platforms that use PayPal only, PayPal and another payment option, and only another payment option (no PayPal). From personal experience, I haven't noticed much negative feedback regarding the payment options each platform had. However, I do recall customers reaching out many times when there was only PayPal and they didn't have a PayPal account. (In those scenarios, I would let them know they could bypass logging into PayPal and still pay with their credit card.)

From a consumer standpoint, I do enjoy when the PayPal option is available. For example, on a rare occasion, I could possibly be without my wallet when I want to make a purchase and don't have the CVV code on my card memorized. In this scenario, it would be nice to just pay through PayPal directly.

I agree with some of the other folks, though - I think you'd be best to test this out, if possible, to see if there is a noticeable difference for your specific scenario.
