Anybody familiar with Etsy? Offsite ads fee - if my sales drop again, will it become optional again?

I am unable to post questions on Etsy forum because I am getting "Too many redirects" error message whenever I try to post new message on their boards. I tried different browsers, computers, devices even wifi vs cell internet. Same issue.

I am a relatively new seller at Etsy, I made some sales 2-3 years ago and I am back.

The question I have is about the Offsite ads..

I understand the fee is optional until I make 10k for past 365 days. Let's say I make a single sale today of $10,000 and after 1 month I make a $100 sale, so I get to mandatory enroll into the ads. That's fine. (Not fine, but it is what it is....)

Now, what happens if after that I don't make enough (or no sales) and my sales drop to zero over 365 at some point of time. Will the Offiste Ads fee become again optional if I make few or no sales?

From how it reads from Etsy website, it says I will be required to participate on the Offsite Ads fee for the lifetime, regardless of my sales.**

Anybody knows? Is this how it is?

The "fee" from Etsy offsite ads is deducted from your sales. So if you make no sales from the ads, you don't get charged.

It's mandatory to be enrolled in the offsite ads program if your Etsy turnover is over $10k in any 365 day period, but otherwise you can opt out of it.

The rules are right there. Its a rolling 365 day window. You have to keep in mind it is only a fee collected for a sale that is made by the buyer using an Etsy ad Link. NOT each and every sale.

IF you have sold less than $10,000 over the last 365 days you CAN opt out of Offsite Ads

    To opt-out of Offsite Ads:
    • On Etsy.com, click Shop Manager.
    • Click Settings.
    • Click Offsite Ads.
    • Click Stop promoting my products.
    • Confirm that you want Etsy to Stop promoting my products.
    • Confirm Stop promoting my products.

Once you have crossed over the $10,000 in 365 day line - the Offsite Ad fee from then on is "Lifetime" So selling an item for $10,000 today and $100 next month, you will then for the life of the account be paying the Offsite Ad fee.

    Hope that answers your question?
